The Lyrics

This song is about wood-working and has lots of family-friendly references to bucking trees, routing the sides of a board and counter-sinking screws so they don't stick out. Just FYI. Enjoy.
My wood, it’s good
If this is not what you know, you should
My wood’s good

My wood, it’s good
That thing that you poked, that was my oak
Poking my oak

My cedar made beavers receive her
That's all I want to say
Go on and rasp away
Go and sand that spot, it might get hot but
That is the plan

My wood, it’s good
You may find you’re pining for my pine
Pining for pine

This outing I’m routing and shouting
My hands work expertly
Oh, come and buck this tree
Let’s counter-sink that, don’t you think that
that would be grand?

My wood’s good

That table is maple, it’s stable
Come help me test it out
This test will leave no doubt
I’ll show you tricks to handle pricks so
you won’t get hurt

My wood, it’s good
Right now you are perched on top of birch
Perched on my birch

and I will do the deeds that good wood needs to
Please like it should, My wood’s good

Very funny double entendre...imaginative and meaty...what I like to read in parodies

Thanks Porf. Glad to see you enjoyed. Thanks AFW, they were fun to think up too.

Great job on the multiple internal rhymes, as TOS requires. Cedar/beaver/receive her "stood out", so to speak, but the others were good, too. The "Michelle" vein is hard, isn't it?

As an OCD-perfectionist, TT might have repeated less; e. g., with "birch", worked in "lurch, Church, perch, besmirch", etc., but everyone knows he's a loony. Five knot-holes, or not-holes, or hot Knowles (Beyonce) for a top-knob-throb-job.

p. s.: There's the "French" verse in TOS that wood fit your theme/seam/ream very nicely .... ;-D

p. p. s: Follow-up idea: D. Warwick's "Theme from 'Mahogany' (Do You Know Where You're Going to)"

"Reamed by Monogamy (Do You Know Whom You're Gonna Do?)" or (You Just Blew Those You No Can Do) .. see why semi-retired, and what happens when you entice him back out of shell? :)

I DO see. Glad you made it out, TT. I don't think anyone would complain about you back out of your shell, btw. I gotta check out the Theme from Mahogany in order for that to work. Way to show me all the rhymes I MISSED. Many of those would be very funny, however in this case I wrote it to repeat myself on purpose. I think this is one of my parodies that lends itself well to performance, and in the performance of it, sometimes repeats can help to maximize fewer jokes so they're appreciated more. I've read many parodies that are packed to the gills with depth and content and rhyme like only this site can muster. They're great written works, but most of the depth and jokes would get lost on first-time listeners to a performance. Also, I could just be lazy :cD

You are *so* right about the difference between parody that is intended to be written/read and that which is intended to be performed or recorded. I commented to that effect when finally allowed to post some of the lyrics that I had sold to a radio producer. As you said: short, no far stretches or obscure refs, etc. ... oh, heck, pardon the plug, but the comments were at:

I was recently allowed to post some of the (topically obsolete) mp3s of his productions. If interested, my Soundclick song list page is
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=1236573&content=music

Currently, one is #4 in the Parody charts (out of 1600+ listings), having peaked at #3, and the others all peaked at #2 or #3. But as you said, they were kept short and simple. The following one was only two verses, per producer's wishes (more time for commercials):

So yes, agree completely: If this was meant to be performed, then you were wise to do as-is. And as much of a kick as it is to have one's parodies professionally produced, syndicated, and aired, it's more fun having them AIRed lol -- posting here, where we can go for the deep jokes and contorted puns.

Alas, the fact that there are rumors that Biden may be dumped from the ticket and replaced by Hillary means that the two Hillaryodies (Hillaryaroius?) can't be posted in their recorded mp3 form. He may get to milk them some more this summer, having bought the lyrics outright for a one-time (not large) payment four years ago. What a deal for him...

If/when I get a release on those, the comparison of the written "Shouldn't It Be Hillary" with the as-recorded-and-aired version would be really striking. Cut *in half*, with a lot of the best gags gone.

I also can't post "I'm Not Gay (Sen. Larry Craig)", because, believe it or not, he's still getting airplay from his subscribing radio stations, years after the event. (Memo to self: Next time, demand royalties.)
