The Lyrics

Since 2003 when Rheinmetall WM developed a plasma taser weapon for the Westphalia Police, Rheimetall AG has been quietly working on a Plasma Rifle for the German Army. First of a range of so-called Powerband and ARC weapons, the Plasma Rifle will fire bursts of energy (no projectiles involved). How this works is unknown as the Germans have given no details. The Plasma taser is wireless and produces a conductive mist that allows repeated firing of electrical energy- but is of limited range. The Plasma Rifle will fire bolts of energy long range. It will be made of a new metal and may feature a laser ignition system. It also will have an ID system so that only a German soldier can operate it. No further details after 9 years of development except that it should become operational by 2016 carried by IDZ Supersoldiers Phase III.
New type of gun, new type of gun
German powerband type

Very startling, the Rheinmetall Plasmagewehr
Combat fighting, energy bursts to impart fear
New type of gun, new type of gun
German powerband type

Very startling, projectile guns will be replacing
Combat fighting, carried by soldiers of the Heer
New type of gun, new type of gun
German powerband type

Run, run, run, more than stuns
For annihilation
Run, run, run, more than stuns
For annihilation
Run, run, run, more than stuns
For annihilation

Very startling, operating on power settings
Combat fighting, bolts of lightning flying through the air
New type of gun, new type of gun
German powerband type

New type of gun, new type of gun
German powerband type
ARC stands for Advanced Reactor Core.

Good, but very startling.

In 1990 when Germany reunified, the advance HK G-11 caseless rifle was shelved due to reunification costs. At that time, THAT was the most advanced rifle in the world with a cylinder breech that rotated and fired caseless ammo. The German soldier would have carried 450 rounds on him and it would still be lighter than lesser amounts carried by the US and Russians. The G-11 had a 50 rd mag mounted on top of the rifle with 2 aux. 50 rd mags up to= 150 rds available on the rifle plus 6 more mags for 300 more rds. The gun initially fired at 2200 rpm and cycled down. The newer clearvue mags were just coming into use and so the German soldier could see the colored spring tell him how close he was to running out w/o need of a vunerable digital rd counter that was considered. The carrying handle and scope were one unit as well and it even had room for a bayonet! But since that was shelved by the early 1990s, work was underway with the G-36 which led to the US/German XM-8 and then HK 416/417 for SFs. Rheinmetall makes a range of weapons but delved into plasma research with the taser weapon and then decided to try to make a rifle and possibly even future AA defense weapons or vehicle-mounted guns. Other German studies deal with flechette-firing weapons and polyslug throwers!. The G-11 SF version for those that have never seen it: http://remtek.com/arms/hk/mil/g11/g11.gif
