The Lyrics

In 1962 the first Taco Bell restaurant was opened in California. Glen Bell claims he invented the modern taco, but just ripped off Mexican miners who first made them in the late 1800s. Taco came from a little blasting charge which was made using paper in a U shape to add powder and then rolled to insert into hard rock. The taquito also resembles dynamite used by the miners who then came to the US in early 1900s. All Glen Bell did by the 1950s was to take this knowledge and substitute hamburger for pork in the Taco which he had pre-fried and add lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. He used franchising to build up his business which could outperform any local Mexican restaurants timewise.
Glen Bell didn't invent you
He came up with Taco Bell
US was the franchising
Mexican miners- Taco shell

Little charges were called "tacos"
Powder in paper, U-shaped
Rolled, inserted in hole, to scatter
Ignited by a flame

Mexicans came to America
Chili Queens pushed tamale carts
Americans wanted Tex-Mex flavor
Glen Bell took ideas, made a fresh start

Pre-fried tortillas in a U
Lettuce, tomatoes, cheese too
Hamburger, not pork, was used
All INGREDIENTS made tacos new
Restaurant-Alamo conspiracy?*
Bell's intention was to sell, his
Taco shells..

Mmm, mmm, mmm, mmm, what skill
Nah... he ripped Mexicans off quite well
* the first Taco Bell restaurant style was sometimes linked to the Alamo due to the Spanish colonial roof!!! There is no connection!

A local brand of taco shells contains two small cardboard tubes to protect them in shipping. If one knew how, and wanted to take the risk, these could be filled with powder to make a firecracker. Didn't know that taco "shell" really did begin as a "shell".
