The Lyrics

Mythbusters is one of my all-time favourite shows. Strange that nobody has yet seen the coincidence.
I bust myths as we bust myths as Adam, Kari, Tory, Grant together.
We blow up things and make rocket swings
see how they blow -.
- I'm frowning

Setting JATO rockets, waiting for the car to fly.
Scientific viewpoint, failure's always option.
Making duct tape sailboat, blowing up a cement truck -
I am Mythbuster, they are Mythbusters.
I am the Hyneman!
(quack, damn you!)

Buster Wan Hu Ming chair sitting
Pretty little rockets in a row.
See how they fly like Wan Hu in the Sky, see how they fly.
I'm frowning, I'm frowning.
I'm frowning, I'm frowning.

Yellow dressed Buster, dropping on a dead elevator.
Blowing up a toilet, parachuting dinghy,
Boy, you been a-mauled sure you let your bones break up -.
I am Mythbuster, they Mythbusters.
I am the Hyneman!
(Quack, damn you!)

Sitting in an blasting bunker waiting shock to come.
If the shock don't come, you get a flash
From blasting all those C-4 cans.
I am Mythbuster, they are Mythbusters.
I am the Hyneman!
(Quack, damn you! Quack, damn you!)

Expert marksman, smoking gun and,
Don't you think ice bullet will kill you?
See how they shoot all those pigs in a coot,
See how they shoot.
I'm frowning.

Buster in a free fall, dropping from a crane or higher -
Alameda runway crashing with a big rig.
Man, you should have seen them trashing all those cars and planes.
I am Mythbuster, they are Mythbusters
I am the Hyneman,
(Quack, damn you!)

Sorry to burst your bubble Susanna, but those guys suck over here in the US. They are not scientists and many of their shows results are refuted, discredited on small arms, electogravitic flying craft, and their take on the Habakkuk carrier of WW2, among other things. Limited lab testing and simulated recreational field testing are not the same as actual extensive and evaluated military testing and field trials. Their show is reminiscent of the old "Wings" show where they did famous fighter aircraft and so every episode they claimed the P-51D Mustang was best, then various Marks of Spitfire, then Fw-190, and Me Bf 109, Zero. Their facts were not accurate and conclusions wrong. Couldn't even match up the right war file footage to the right aircraft. No one who knows better takes "Mythbusters" seriously except the naive. 555 for the parody.

The legend of the flying car was finally refuted, but I did believe it for a while. The worst examples I saw were major network news shows that put a model rocket engine in a truck's fuel tank to create the belief that these trucks were subject to explode in minor collisions. Another network ran a story about "mayhem books", publications reportedly teaching the young and criminally inclined to make dangerous explosives out of common household products. They demonstrated the menace of these books by blowing up a trailer house with dynamite. Didn't prove a thing. The story was not about dynamite and how easy it is to get or steal (it isn't). It was supposed to be about books. Of course, today, all that knowledge is on the internet, waiting to kill or maim fools that believe it.

Nevermind how "scientific" Mythbusters might be, it's still fun :-)

Clément Ader did it before even Whitehead and Wright brothers. What is important is that Wright brothers' flight was the first fully steerable flight.
Rob Arndt - February 03, 2016 - Report this comment
No, actually Ader nor any others were proven to have flown controlled flight. Weisskopf did and for longer range and height as witnessed by over 500 people. The Wrights were by comparison launched by catapult with the wind behind them at low altitude for short distance. The GW No.21 was also a powered flying car with retractable wings in 1901!!! Btw, Yeager was NOT first to break Mach 1 either compared to the F-86 pilots and Luftwaffe pilots before him. Wright Field tested the Me-262 postwar and their 1946 assessment (an official US Govt document) states on pg.13 that the Me-262 could attain Mach 1 in a shallow dive from above 35,000 ft which backs up Mutke's latter claim in White 9. Other Me-262 and Me-163 pilots also nudged and broke the sound barrier only to die in the process. But another aircraft DESIGNED to go supersonic, the Lippish P 13b ramjet was under US Intel until flight time in March 1945. After that the records are missing!!! Also supersonic under construction was the DFS-346 the Soviets captured and blundered with. It flew 500 mph with no rocket engine in drop tests before Yeager. So did the unpowered Lippish DM-1 delta ramjet. But due to Soviet inefficiency and production of 3 more airframes German pilot Wolfgang Zeiss from Siebert only hit Mach 1 in 1951 during a break up in flight. Not his fault using bastardized aircraft. Had the war gone on, the LW would have had multiple supersonic aircraft of conventional type by 1947 including bombers! Btw, German disc craft flew faster than the SR-71 in the war under SS testing and could leave the atmosphere. That's probably why they received 75 year classification until 2020.

I'd watch this show with my kids because it did illustrate the process of skeptical logical thinking. I'm impressed with your ability to parody this song -- the lyrics are a challenge. You're inspiring me to try it myself. I have a good idea; just dont know if I can pull it off.

The flying car I am referring to was from a story I heard on the radio. Reportedly two men found a fully fueled JATO engine in a scrapyard. They then rigged it to the roof of a Pontiac Bonneville(?) or Chevrolet Impala and tried to drive it. According to the story the car went airborne and buried itself in the side of a cliff. I think the Mythbuster story was intended to prove that a car with a rocket motor on the roof would not fly.

It's worth noting that the Wrights claimed that the configuration of the GW No.21 alone made it impossible to fly. Replicas built in the US and Germany with same materials and dimensions (except Weisskopfs unique engine that drove both the gear as a car and props as a plane) were tested (compensating for the engine using exact HP distribution with 1901 standard weights and props). Both flew in the '80s and '90s- the latter by a Luftwaffe pilot! The Smithsonian will never admit Weisskopf flew first because the Wrights made an agreement with them not to do so as a condition of representing their aircraft. So basically the Wrights blackmailed to stay on top.

Gave me an idea for a Patty Smyth parody: "Makin' big things into small ones [big boom!] I am the Hyneman…"
