"Ghosts at Play"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Tacitus wrote of the German Harii and their Ghost Soldiers that painted their bodies black, carried black shields, and ashen weapons to attack Roman encampments at night, causing terror. Some of the first special forces that used camouflage.
Ghosts at play, Harii devils drove the Romans away
Black bodies, shields, axes with which to slay
Bloodstained blades of Ghosts at play

Special forces on a killing spree
Fearsome warriors of Germany
Out of darkness they came suddenly

An evil flow, striking blows, the piles of slain
Proved Romans were not that strong, when caught by Ghosts at play

Ghosts at play, the Einherjar* of yesterday
Knew no fear, were not afraid
Mighty, frightening, Ghosts at play

An evil flow, striking blows, the piles of slain
Proved Romans were not that strong, when caught by Ghosts at play

Ghosts at play, Harii devils drove the Romans away
Black bodies, shields, axes with which to slay
Bloodstained blades of Ghosts at play

Bloooooooooooooooooooooood!!!
* Einherjar were Odin's Ghost Warriors in Norse mythology

I think the sight of a tall, hulking nude man painted black jumping out of the bushes screaming and wielding edged weapons would still be quite frightening today!
