The HK-4 (true designation) flew Nov 2, 1947. Technically, the plane was in ground effect at 70 ft altitude for 1 mile at 135 mph for 26 seconds! Basically a scaled-up German Bv-222 with longer wingspan, it was intended for the invasion of Japan as transport. Never happened. Stratolaunch did taxi tests last year and will fly sometime this summer.
