Song Parodies -> "Poor Bluto"

Original Song Title:

"Love Me Do"

Original Performer:

The Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Poor Bluto"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

Bluto was in the original comic and theatrical cartoons but in 1960 with the TV cartoon King Features Syndicate erroneously thought Paramount owned the copyright to the character Bluto, so they changed him to Brutus by mistake. They made Brutus more rugged, dumber, with fat instead of real muscles and a rough beard. Eventually, they realized the mistake and changed him back to Bluto. They tried to explain Brutus as Bluto's twin brother or alternatively as a new thug character.
Poor, poor Bluto
What King Features did to you
There's no excuse
Changed to Brutus goof
No copyright fight, you fools!

Poor, poor Bluto
Didn't need ANOTHER you
Drawn fat & crude
Essentially another dude
Not strong like Bluto

Handsome and tough
Olive Oly's naughty beau
Brutus was a slob
Scruffy and just a foe

Poor, poor Bluto
What King Features did to you
There's no excuse
Changed to Brutus goof
No copyright fight, you fools!

Poor, poor Bluto
Didn't need ANOTHER you
Drawn fat & crude
Essentially another dude
Not strong like Bluto

huh, I heard before that Disney caused a stir, due to the name "Bluto" sounding too similar to "Pluto." you learn something new everyday! folks'll just blame Disney for anything! 5s

Hey Jon,, did you know that Kricfalusi's Ren Hoek was based on the real name of his building manager? I just learned that today! Nick is bringing back some of the old toons. R&S fans want a reboot! Also, Nick launched " Ren & Stimpy" on the same day as "Doug" and "Rugrats!" That was in the 1990s, but Kricfalusi had the concept in the late 1970s! Ren is based on an art pic of an angry Chihuahua in a sweater and Stimpy is based on a Tweety Bird episode featuring a cat with a Jimmy Durante nose!!! FYI

no sir, I had no idea that Ren Hoek was named for a real person. yes, I did know that Nickelodeon is interested in bringing back a lot of their '90s properties. (proof once and for all, to any atheists out there, that there IS a God!) I am in agreement that Ren & Stimpy should be among those revivals, but ONLY with the twisted mind of John Kricfalusi attached! unfortunately, I'm unsure how likely this is, as he recently fell victim to #MeToo movement. or as I like to call it, the #INeedCashNow! movement. indeed, I knew about R&S being launched on the same day as "Rugrats" & "Doug." the three original Nicktoons! all of which, I loved! and finally, I also knew of the inspiration behind Ren & Stimpy's designs. Kricfalusi was born in '55, but has a great appreciation for 1940s culture. the same as I, a creature of the '90s, greatly loving the '60s, '70s and '80s! thanks for dropping some cartoon knowledge on me, mate! it's good to know that, among our commen interests, we are also both toonsters! :)
