I have always considered "Blackbird" to be one of the most beautiful songs ever released. I've done a few comic turns on this tune, but always wanted to do one in the spirit of the song, And then it hit me -- I have a proper subject right under my nose; if it had been a German Shepherd, it would have bitten me. I have a granddog (daughter's dog) who was broken by neglect and left to die on the side of road after being struck by a car. His injuries were so severe that his right forelimb needed to be amputated, because it was causing him so much pain. There's actually a word now for such a three legged creature -- "Tripawed"

He's doing great as far as I can tell. Daughter brought him over on Mothers Day. he weighs in at 85 lbs; normal weight for a German Shepherd despite his disability. And he pulls on the leash like a Clydesdale pulling a beer wagon -- strongest tug I've ever felt from a dog …. Reason being, when it walks it lifts its upper body straight up and pushes off with both legs. The effect is like a football lineman coming out of a three point stance time and time again
