The Lyrics

One thing I shoot for in all these Beatle parodies is variety. That means some are wierd, political or maybe not so funny.
I've just been disgraced
I was a jock, I played third base
And I became a multi-millionaire
I really thought that I was fairly set
MMMMMMMMMM

Had to have it all my way
I found the girls and games to play
And got into some drug abuse
I never thought that I could lose it all
MMMMMMMMMM

Failing, yes I am failing
And they keep nailing
Me to a cross

Soon the media got hold
Of all the stories and they told
Them in the tabloids and the shows
I found out just how quick it goes away
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Failing, yes I am failing
And all my wailing
Won't fix the loss

I've just been disgraced
I laid my whole career to waste
And now I think of what I could have been
I'm broke but sober and I'm clean today

Ayayayayayay

Failing, I'm through with failing
And now I'm hailing
Another boss

This is my favorite Beatles song (really) and since you nailed the tricky pacing it was fun to read even with the more serious subject matter. Insightful.

There's also tricky rhymes. Whenever we do this live, we sing: "And I'd have never been AWARE, but as it is I'll dream of HAIR tonight." Hilarity ensues.

This is pretty much a perfect parody: one of life's little stories set beautifully mapped to the original tune. I agree with your comment about the rhymes (but when you've got a scouse accent, "aware" does rhyme with "her"): you've nailed those, too :-)
