Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I drank too much red tonight
Can’t remember what I said tonight
For red is the colour of my favourite wine
And you know it’s fine, it's true
Yes it is

Claret was the wine I poured
Now I really know for sure
I cant remember all the things we planned
I cant stand, it's true
Yes it is, it's true
Yes it is

I Need a drink to stand here by your side
But each drink takes me down a slippery slide
Yes it is, yes it is
Oh, yes it is, yeah

Please no more red tonight
This is what I said tonight
Because you know I drink too much
‘Cause I’m a lush, it's true
Yes it is, it's true
Yes it is

I need a drink to stand here by your side
But each drink takes me down a slippery slide
Yes it is, yes it is
Oh, yes it is, yeah

Please no more red tonight
This is what I said tonight
Because you know I drink too much
‘Cause I’m a lush, it's true
Yes it is, it's true
Yes it is

You did a good job, and I enjoyed this parody. Thank you. I found something distracting about it, I'm not sure what it was. Possibly the syllable mismatches. The very first line ("I drank too much red tonight"/"If you wear red tonight") has 6 syllables in OS, but 7 in the parody. But that can be reconciled by the "Syllable zero" rule that I introduced yesterday: "[W]henever OS stress is on syllable 1, usually, you can steal an extra syllable with a 'syllable zero. In some musical circles it's called a 'pickup note.'" This rule does not work unless both syllable zero is unstressed and syllable 1 is stressed. So you can't use this rule on line 2 ("Can’t remember what I said tonight"/"Remember what I said tonight"), where OS is 8 syllables and parody is 9, because syllable 1 (REmember) is unstressed. Line 3 is flawless. In Line 4, "And you know it’s fine, it's true", the words "you know" must be deleted. 1) You don't have the syllables available; 2) the words don't add a thing to the meaning. I hope this finds you well. I look forward to your next submission.
