I made this parody longer than the original song, just for fun! A few quick notes of explanation:(1) Buck Rogers was a science-fiction comic-book character of the 1920's, upon whom a lot of later American science-fiction was based (such as Flash Gordon) - Buck Rogers was trapped in suspended animation underground for 500 years and woke up in a futuristic time when people flew around with jet-packs on their backs;(2) James Bond, I think everybody knows - "M" is James' boss, "Q" is the guy who gives James his wild high-tech gadgets, and "Miss Moneypenny" is M's secretary;(3) Professor John Robinson was the patriarch of the space-traveling Robinson family in the campy-classic 1960's American TV sci-fi series "Lost In Space".

Phil and Claude - Your point is well-taken.....My reasons for including the preface-notes: I felt that some younger people might not know who Buck Rogers is, and maybe not even who John Robinson is.....so I decided to include some preface-notes about them. And since I was going to write up some notes about Buck and John, I figured I might as well include a few words about Agent 007, since there might be some folks out there who aren't as familiar with Ian Fleming's super-spy as most people probably are.

It was not my intention to detract from anybody's enjoyment of the parody, and if that's what happened, my sincerest apologies. Thanks for your comments.

LOL! I remember Walter Chronkite hosted a show in the 60's called the 21stCentury. The show predictcted, that we'd all be flying around with a jet belt by the year 2000!

Diva, yes, I remember Unkie Walter's "21st Century" show! Your comment reminds me of a TV commercial for IBM that featured Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko on Deep Space Nine, Hawk on Spenser for Hire). The commercial was very short, 30 seconds or even less, and all it consisted of was Avery Brooks looking indignantly into the camera and saying "It's the year 2000. Where are the flying cars? I was promised flying cars! Where--are--the FLYING CARS ?!!!"

It gets scarier than that. Anyone remember the Buck Rogers sci-fi show with Gil Gerard? I watched it when I was a kid (I'm 30ish), and It intro portrayed the FUTURE like this: "The year is 1987, and NASA launches the last of America's deep space probes..."

Johnny D - Shoot, I thought John Robinson was either the guy who used to coach the USC Football team or one of my disinheirited relatives (or one who was disinheiriting me, maybe). But then again I didn't remember how "Turning Japanese" went either. It appears there are some major gaps in my cultural knowledge. So the explanation was ok. Besides, if nobody else on this site rambled on people might notice how much I do. Thanks. Nice job. I even remembered to hit "Place your vote" again.

J-J-J-Johnny and the Jetssss! It's shocking now how good I thought the Gil Gerard version of Buck Rodgers was, and how laughable it now seems. I suppose Brooks could've brought a flying car back here with him on the Defiant, but then, that would've violated the Temporal Prime Directive. (Yes, I know, it's just a TV show and I should get a life.) Rice: The last word we should be hearing here is "crash!"

Jeff: Thanks...I guess I didn't want to stick to BR since BR might be kind of obscure to some people...they've heard the name "Buck Rogers", but how many people today have actually read the old original BR comics?
