"Melted Feathers"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

King Minos' prison
It one labyrinth jail-house
In went, Icarus, and,
Daedalus his father
No way
Out
By
Land or sea

Leaving only one way for them both to get free

Daedalus savvy
He one
Greek inventor
He one
Clever fellow
He help
Theseus kill
That big
Min-o-taur
Mon-ster freak

Now Daedalus prove he one cool smart cunning Greek

He so clever
Planned how
To get free

He gather feathers
He cut reeds from grassland
He use string for tyin'
He build waxy pinions
He make wings, for, both son and he

Flapped their wings and flew out over deep wine-dark sea

Jump together
And now
Fly so free

At first smooth flyin'
He and son are laughin'
Waxy pinions flappin'
Freakin' out poor seagulls

Then son
Rise
Too high
In sky
Flying

Sun too hot for waxy glue inside both his wings!

Melted feathers
Right down -
To the sea!

Now this is something else--Greek mythology meets the Beatles. 5 flaps to you.
Johnny D - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks very much, Steve!

Another corker, JD. So who's next? Jason? Odysseus?
Johnny D - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Phil. Jason and the Argonauts is a possibility, though possibly not as widely-known as the various adventures of Odysseus/Ulysses. We shall see!

I'm impressed. Are you trying to get Phil Alexanders' teaching job? The lines from JC Superstar come to mind. ----Icarus,-Icarus, Maybe you should have take-en the bus---Icarus, flew too far, maybe you should have rode in the car.....etc.
Johnny D - January 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Rick. I don't want to take anything away from anybody, least of all Phil's professorial position! Hey, I like your JC Supe's lines!

HEY YALL GOTTA GIVE THIS ONE A READ. Only six votes on this one, should be sixty!

JD, I have tears in my eyes from laughing at this. So well done. Gotta be your best ever. KEEP 'EM COMING! I sang it to my wife and we both howled all the way through it. BRAVO!!!

I have the basic tracks for this song which I used for "Dumb Together". I could send them to you or even just post them sans vocals for everyone to use, like I've been discussing with Phil. Any thoughts?

Gotta give ya points for making a story that I barely know interesting, and excellent pacing. I should read more, huh? Haven't known the original song for your last couple of parodies, but it's really hard to not know Abby Road. Good job on this. Oh, I'm supposed to mention this song from last Sunday. It had something to do with Chalupas...

Johnny D - It's a pleasure to watch a really hot Greek "Myth" and the Beatles "Come Together". Do you know if that "Myth" ever settled down, got married and became a "Mythus"? Trying to keep coming with remarks clever enough to be worthy of your parodies is a no job for a "Sisyphus", I'll tell you that...You just keep getting "boulder & boulder". Well, I better get rolling now, other parodies to check out. Now I know that being a CSNY knowledgable person you'll want to look at my "Woodstock" parody when it posts tomorrow. I might not be able to get back and comment on any stuff for at least a few days after tomorrow morning. Headed back to L.A., still need to buy a new PC and get phone line to do Internet on.

This one was very HOT, Johnny!

Rick D: Sure, go ahead and post your music-only tracks for "Come Together" for all to download and experiment-with - thanks!

2nz: Thanks! Now I gotta go back and take a look at last Sunday's postings....

Paul: Thank you, too, and please keep your Stream Of Altered Consciousness flowing across the rapids of your keyboard! (by the way, a female moth with a lisp is a myth)

Mari D: Thanks! Your hubby's sunspot parody today is pretty HOT, too! There we go again....coincidences and synchronicities.....

That's my mistake, it was Saturday, the 24th that the Chalupa thing came out.

Ah thanks Johnny - you have just jogged my memory to go google that poem about the famous Icarus painting (dunno how cus' I can't remember either the name of the poem or the painting...) - don't mind me - I am rambling. Good parody.
