The Lyrics

This parody is mostly mindless rantings about things that annoy me. There is, however, a verse totally dedicated to my friend Vivian, who checks my parodies from time to time...and who I was a total beast to yesterday...if you're reading this Vivian...I really am sorry.
Oh, it's a pain when I start telling jokes and no one laughs
Or when the boy I like tells me he's got to go
And when salesmen can't understand "no"
Fits I want to throw

When I'm late there's always frost to scrape off of my car
Or I forget something and have to double back
Then the Geo stalls on railroad tracks
Or when girls complain, 'cause I'm vain

It's a pain when I get hairspray in my eyes
Don't like "gifts" from birds as they fly by
Can't stand a hairy back

And it's a pain when toilet paper is stuck to my ass
Or when a date finds my shrine built for Charlie Sheen
Sometimes I say what I don't really mean
Like a nasty dream

(instrumental)

It's a pain when I still fail after eight tries
I trip in front of sexy guys
An itch on my mid-back

When watching indie films I don't know what they're all about
It's 5:15 and my boss says I've got to stay
I want to swim but I can't find the bay
Oh what can I say?

And it's a pain when my friend Vivian thinks I'm a bitch
No matter what I say it's never the right thing
She should know by now that she's my Queen
She's my favorite girl, in the world

It's a pain when I'm out of office supplies
Or when people choose to tell me lies
Hate when I can't relax

It's a pain to find a cockroach in my fries
Gotta pee--pants have a button fly
It's a pain!

Cleverly worded, decent pacing, great imagery--even if the subject's a bit on the personal side, this still deserves three fives.

Arwen, this is just so nice. And I could never think that you are a bitch. We all have off days. But I can't believe you included me in one of your parodies. It's the best thing to happen to me since Greenery Day!

I'd like to penny up my ante of three 5's for this great work.

Thanks a bunch, Ingeborg!

Johnny, thanks! I know...; )

Genius, way to live up to your name by recognizing my brilliance...hehehe...thanks!

Ash, thanks, babydoll. And if I do find one...you know you're going to be the first person I call.

Joe, I have another parody of PL called "There's a Stain." I think it's a better parody...but...I like this one, too!

John B, thanks for the vote. And thanks, too, for using the word 'litany.'

Jeff, I didn't. I did find a frozen bumble bee carcass in the middle of some ice cream once, though. Luckily, it wasn't mine...(I worked at Baskin Robbins in high school)...thanks!

Vivian! I'm so glad you stopped by. Greenery day WAS a great day...I'll agree. I think Columbus Day was right up there with it, though...I love you!

Dee...thanks a million, buddy! =)

lines 11 and 12 are my favorites
Arwen - October 15, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks, Royce. I'm partial to the Charlie Sheen line, myself...even though I totally don't even find him to be attractive. But niether Vin Diesel or Kenny Chesney rhymed with "queen." =)
Stuart McArthur - October 15, 2004 - Report this comment
sounds like you've had a bad week - but you still come up with Charlie Sheen, indie films, button-flies, and all of verse 2 - the wit's all in the detail - parodies are such good therapy, no?? - loved it, Arwen - 555

Kenny Chesney...lol, Arwen

I can relate to that.
Arwen - October 15, 2004 - Report this comment
To the song, or to being a short, balding, sexy sexy bastard?

Thanks, 2Eagle!

Excellent rhyming substitution for the OS, and a lot of clever lines, particularly the "birds" line.
