The Lyrics

A Rose by any other name, still banned from the Hall of Fame.
Gimme a ticket to the racing course.
Ain't got luck to bet a fast horse.
Baseball days are gone.
Now he's got no home.
Pete Rose is a big compulsive bettor.

I don't know how much money he had to spend.
Got himself banned for life, baby.
Baseball days are gone.
Now he's got no home.
Pete Rose is a big compulsive bettor.

Well, there's proof he's a bettor
and he can't be workin' in baseball no more.
Listen, Mister, can't you see
you can't do no gamblin' on baseball
don't you know
anyway?
Hey!

Gimme a ticket to the racing course.
Ain't got luck to bet a fast horse.
Baseball days are gone.
Now he's got no home.
Pete Rose is a big compulsive bettor.

Well, there's proof he's a bettor
and he can't be workin' in baseball no more.
Listen, Mister, can't you see
you can't do no gamblin' on baseball
don't you know
anyway?
Hey!

Gimme a ticket to the racing course.
Ain't got luck to bet a fast horse.
Baseball days are gone.
Now he's got no home.
Pete Rose is a big compulsive bettor.

Pete Rose is a big compulsive bettor.

And they're off! As they break from the gate...

Very good. PS- The " Wreck " is one of the " Holy Grail " parodies.

This was not bad, but I've seen better.

Rose is The One Who Got Caught. (That does not excuse what he did, BTW. But now we are hearing the allegations against Lenny Dykstra, and I think there will be others before it's all done.)

As the big compulsive bettors go, Pete is Roser than most.

I'll bet 15.

What's worse - betting on games involving your team or taking steroids? Probably gambling, but we shall see what Hall of Fame voters think. Well done, MP. By the way, what do you think of A-Rod, now?

One decent game does not a $252M bargain make, John Jenkins.

Good job, Michael...5s I can't seem to make up my mind on Pete Rose. I know what he did was wrong but, I always loved to watch him play. He always gave it 100%.

Ant: Thought so, but that still leaves one I don't know (and at least one, "Major General,") that I haven't done. Rex: Lenny's problem isn't gambling, it's the free drinks the casinos offer. Alvin: I agree completely. Of course, if that became Bud Selig's official policy, Rose would probably jump off the Carew Tower tomorrow. (That's the tallest building in Cincinnati, not a reference to Rod the better hitter.) Johnny D: Like Rose to first, this is a running gag. Johnny J: Betting on games involving your team, because the games where you don't bet on your own team are de facto games where you are saying your team WILL lose. What do I think of A-Rod now? Do a search for "Steinbrenner" and "Mr. May" and see what comes up. Rick C: Rose gave baseball 100%, and gambling 100%, and women 100% -- not counting his wives, of course.
