The Lyrics

I used to be a goldsmith's apprentice in my youth, so lathes and turning is no alien thing to me.
To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a tool (turn, turn, turn)
And a bit for every purpose, all the stuffs

A gouge for wood, a bit for steel
a shaper for silver, a scriber for gold
A grinder for bronze, a router for brass
Some tools are new and some tools are old

The machine tools (turn, turn, turn)
Are goldsmith's friends (turn, turn, turn)
Be they lathes, grinders, routers, solders, mills or drills

Are tools for pendants, are tools for rings
Are tools for bracelets, a tools for brooch
Are tools for necklaces, are tools for bangles, are tools for pins

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is a reason (turn, turn, turn)
And a method for every purpose, all the working

A time of lathe, a time of drill
A time of hone, a time of mill
A time you use the planer, a time for using the shaper

To everything (turn, turn, turn)
There is precision (turn, turn, turn)
And a joint for every purpose, all the thingies

A place for join, a place for glue
A place for solder, a place for weld
A place for rivets, a place for threads
A goldsmith knows how it all is made!

I loved this parody, and I can identify with the machine-tool theme since my last boyfriend was building a replica of an old race car of some sort from scratch, an old Jaguar engine and some kind of torpedo-shaped tank (I can't remember the year or brand he had in mind, but it was definitely rooted in the 1930s). Goldsmithing is a cool trade, by the way. 5s.
