Thanks, Warren - I forgot the Bee Gees. I was thinking of the mid Sixties when the Beatles replaced Bubblegum because they sounded like grown men. But then there was the Ohio Express. Thanks, Mariadoc - a certain newspaper columnist inspired that. Thanks Porfle - not so much as the early Sixties. The Beatles were badly needed.

Clever. As a big 4S and Frankie fan, I got a real kick out of this. Great to see the revival of interest in their music and milieu through Jersey Boys. They played up to the commercial market of course, but they were damn good. The astute musicality of Bob Gaudio also had a lot to do with it. There were some great falsettos around in those days: Brian Wilson, Lou Christie, Del Shannon, was it Bob Henley of the Newbeats. Roy Orbison could whip out a killer falsetto too. Best line - Grow up laddie, you can't be castratti.
