The Lyrics
The Jaynetts were a Bronx-based girl group who became one-hit wonders with TOS, which hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. So, the first, only, and probably last, parody of it here. ;)
TOS's meaning was so obscure that one DJ actually asked any listener who understood it to call in and explain. (Lotta weird theories around.) Guess who did? ;) ... tough to match in parody, too.
OS video here. The 45-rpm lyrics are hard to understand, and most web transcriptions were way off, so TT transcribed TOS and posted it at his own site, here.

I actually remember the original song, but not sure exactly what it was about. Some girl seeing her boyfriend with another girl, I think. Scratchy 45's with AM radio left me with some bizarre impressions of lyrics in the old days, even though I still had my hearing then. Now we have the internet, but it seems every site repeats the same errors that the first transcriber made.

No wonder the TOS was obscure if it means what I think. That' the easiest thing to do if you want to hide what's really being said in lyrics.

Just a Miss America reference. I know they wear swimsuits but it made me think of it with all the modeling and stuff
I know The Beatles were inspired by rock singers of the fifties (and maybe the Andrews Sisters), but they took rock to a higher level and made it sound like something adults wanted to listen to.
