The Lyrics

Neveh Dekalim is empty now. It's in Gaza, and Israelis lived there until today. Here's a serious, sad parody from the perspective of a settler who lived his life in Gaza, and never thought this day would come. No matter how you feel about the politics surrounding it, this is a moment to recognize humanity and pain, and to pray for Shalom - peace.
The morning sun rose
and I prayed here one last time
Soldiers knock on my door
The moment has arrived

Must leave today, Neveh
Dekalim, I must move from my home
My brother says I must go
I wonder where I'll roam?
Please, bring Shalom

The playground's empty now
Where all my children played
We're on a bus, they're crying
As we drive away

Must leave today, Neveh
Dekalim, I must move from my home
All my life I have lived there
I wonder where I'll roam?
Please, bring Shalom

They say that if we go
There is a chance for peace
But no one really knows
And so, G-d, hear my plea

Must leave today, Neveh
Dekalim, I have moved from my home
When will this endless war end?
Will I have to move once more?
Please, bring Shalom

Shalom, Salaam, Peace, and Mir --- over there --- and over here.

This really captures the spirit of the day's traumatic events. Very well done.

Very well expressed, Mason. Will Ariel Sharon go down in history as the architect of peace between Israel and the Palestinians or as just another leader who caved in to terrorists?

Once this current round of fighting started, I knew there would never be peace between Israel and the Arabs -- I won't dignify them by calling them "Palestinians" -- until the two dinosaurs were out of the picture. Arafat is now dead. And if the alternative to Sharon is Benjamin Netanyahu, then we may never live to see it.
