The Lyrics

Fleet's in, shore leave in the city
Due back on deck by 11:30
Run down gangway to the jetty
Ran into a call-girl, said her name was Betty
All around
Sailors lookin' randy
Walkin' on the sidewalk
Lookin' for some candy

But at night it's a sailor's world
Go out and find a girl
Roll on the Trojan nice and tight
Get some relief 'til you feel all right
And then
Don't you know that you're AWOL again
'Cause you lost track of time
Drivin' Hummers
In the city
Drivin' Hummers
In the city

Cool town, shore leave in the city
Dress in your whites, make sure you're not "pitty"
Macho, tryin' to be witty
Scrapin' up the bucks to pay a pro named "Kitty"
Then you're
Wheezin' in the front hall
Grabbin' at your pants
'Cause she left you there with blue balls

But at night it's a sailor's world
Go out and find a girl
Roll on the Trojan nice and tight
Get some relief 'til you feel all right
And then
Don't you know that you're AWOL again
'Cause you lost track of time
Buyin' hummers
In the city
Buyin' hummers
In the city

Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly would have been great in this parody!

That's tight... strapped on nice and tight.

Johnny D - Ah, there's nothing like an old-fashioned love song, is there? And when you're done with that you can head down to the red-light district and get some real action - as exemplified in this parody. 5's

You forgot that the first verse gets repeated after the second, but other than that, a stunner in the city!

Johnnie, I'm curious how many you've had rejected. I finally have one I can't rewrite enough to get through. You seem to know where the line is. (Actually, an old television joke writers trick is to write so many dirty jokes, some of the milder ones get through because they're not as bad as the censored ones. Is that your secret?)

Thank you all!

Tim: New York, New York, it's a wonderful town - the Bronx is up and the Battery's down - the sailors buy every whore in the town - New York, New York, it's a wonderful town!

2nz: Sleep tight!

Paul R.: And the red light means STOP!

Jack: Didn't know Summer In The City's one of your favorites - it's been an honor to mock it for you!

Arwen: Thank you HONEY!

Pat: Aww shucks, you're even GREATER!

Michael: Yeah, the reprise of the first verse doesn't show up at the end of this parody, but I guess I could've at least put "(repeat first verse here)" in there at the end...thanks for the "stunner" comment!

Rick D - so far, Chucky G has rejected only one of my parodies outright (it was a parody of The Steve Miller Band's song "The Joker")......I just sent you a "Private Message" through the messageboard in which I reveal to you the secret techniques for slipping parodies past the censor.

Ah, Master JD, we would humbly bow at your feet but we fear we might get splorked while we were down there. But I must admit, you ARE the Finest Kind Finesse King with regards to side-stepping the "Blue Review" board here.

Don't you DARE bow at my feet! Deposit absurdly large amounts of Euros in my Swiss bank account instead. Thanks, Paul!
Paul Robinson - May 21, 2004 - Report this comment
Hmmm...seems like a suitable compromise. All I lack is the absurdly large amount of Euros to take care of your request.

Nice job.
