"Monday, Monday"

Original Performer:

The Mamas And The Papas

Parody Song Title:

"Monday, No Song"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Monday, no song
No post from me
Monday, no song
Won't compete with all fifty-three

Oh, Monday mornin'
Much adornin'
Home page usually
But Monday evenin',
I'll submit a song or three

Monday, Monday
Don't like that day
Monday, Monday
Seems like too many at work play

Oh, Monday mornin'
Let this be a warnin'
To writers new-bie
That Monday evenin'
Is prime to place your par-o-dy

Every other day (every other day)
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes (but whenever Monday comes)
That's when I resign
For a short time

Monday, no song
No, not from me
Monday mornin'
Surfeit such, forlornin' to see

Oh, Monday mornin'
Many hornin'
In, but guarantee
That Monday evenin'
I shall post a trilogy*

Every other day (every other day)
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes (but whenever Monday comes)
That's when I decline
No, not a line!

Monday, Monday
Can't use that day
Monday, Monday
There's just too much display
Whoa, Monday, Monday
I go away
Monday, Monday
Gives me dismay
Oh Monday, Monday
Oh Monday, Monday

There was a Monday last summer after a no-update weekend in which over 100 parodies were up. I considered a song like this but never got around to it (I had considered The Bangles "Manic Monday"). Anyways, great job on not writing a song for a Monday update. ;-)

If everyone took your advice, we'd be empty on Monday and have 35 "Spells" on Tuesday. If everyone took Jerry Springer's advice to respect their marriage vows or their family ties, or their boyfriends and girlfriends, he'd be out of a show.

Patrick: Lots of situations where "if everybody (did something)" ... bad stuff would happen. But with 7 billion unique individuals on the planet .... "everybody" usually doesn't. ;)

Still kind of wonder why anyone bothers to post on Mondays, absent a special occasion (topical), but they always have and still do, so the advice stands.

Some writers feel that if there are more songs posted, more readers/writers will be at the site. But note Peter Andersson's sage advice on TT's first day, which TT tried to explain to RA and others who flood the site (second comment by Peter):

I agree with Peter and have always followed that advice, except for a few times when circumstances dictated otherwise. (Smooshes of three songs; then six, then eight; group tribute that required three volumes; times when already subbed two the night before, but a late-breaking news even needed an immediate, timely parody, etc.) Thanks for reading and for v/c.

Heh heh good one. I was HOPING that no-one would have mentioned YOUR first Monday, and as I read through the comments my hopes rose and rose like a high tide. Something a Turtle would appreciate.

But then, they were dashed on the rocks by a certain Turtle's comments. I thought the lack of such an observation would be too good to be TTrue.
Tommy Turtle - August 26, 2012 - Report this comment
Peregrin, Peter's comment was so apropos that I had hoped more writers would read -- and heed -- it. As we can see, they have not.
I'd also like to see a 3-5 song/author/day limit, to prevent this ridiculous flooding by one or two authors that drowns out the rest of us on the home page, with exceptions by advance permission only. (Like, say, an eight-song smoosh.) But no one else seems to care, or at least, to say anything about it. Thanks for stopping by!
