The Lyrics

I escaped from Southern Hell twenty years ago, and I still break out in a cold sweat and shake when I think of what it was like there.
Predatory. Relentless. Unsleeping. No Escape.

Are you ready for the gilded state?

All the clouds are brown,
And the walls are gray, (the walls are gray)
Only fools try to walk, (fools think to talk)
Inside of L. A. (Hey, this is L.A.)
The things yet unspoken, (Nothing is spoken)
Will be soon displayed. (To your utter dismay)
California Screamin'
On a smog-shrouded day.
California Screamin'
On a smog-shrouded day.

Lurched into a town,
With my first year's pay,
It drove me onto my knees,
And I tried to pray.
You know all psychos are ice-cold,
Psychos are ice-cold,
They hide in the day,
Hide in the day,
California screamin',
California screamin',
I have lost my way.

All the hills are brown,
And the faces are gray, (falsehood faces play)
No safe place to talk, (run, don't walk)
I want to run away. (put that gun away)
There's nothing I can tell you, (They all want to sell you,)
If you leave today, (You'll be lynched today.)
California screamin'
California screamin'
On a darkened day,
California screamin',
On a darkened day.
California screamin'
On a darkened day....
"The horror! The horror!"

I get the screamin' ref - well done. I like this parody and I would not live there if it made my income quadruple - I'd have less after all the taxes, gas prices and general cost of living than I have now with 1/4 of what I make now. Yep - California is screamin' as it has never screamed before with that gay marriage law that just passed. As for the constitutional arguement that the founding fathers did not cover this subject - they didn't need to because they could have never imagined how the culture would change. I say the spirit and intent of what was written and and formed the basis for the way of Americana did not need to be said because such a thing back then was unthinkable, If they were the same guys writing it today I would bet the mortgage money that they would cover that base as to not allow this into the American society and social norm, This is just an old school guy's opinion, but I am sure that I am far from alone on my view on this matter. Great write. 5's from a seasoned parody writer for this write. Well done!

The song describes precisely what I felt while living there. Nothing more, nothing less - and, it really was that bad for me. Note: I only learned I'm autistic about two years ago.
