The Lyrics

I'll never take a bath anymore if I can't find you
And if I can't squeeze you and hear your squeak, what can I do?
Now like a baby I'm crying, (baby).
Oh, duckie...were are you hiding?

I've lost my rubber duckie,
And I feel quite unlucky,
I've lost my rubber duckie,
Now it's gone...gone...gone...wooooooh.

Now there's no bubble bath I will take
If I don't have you
Not even soap on a rope can stop me from feeling blue
I'll throw a fit that is hissy, (baby).
Without you, I am just a big sissy.

I've lost my rubber duckie,
And I feel quite unlucky,
And just a little schmucky,
Now it's gone...gone...gone...wooooooh.

Rubber duckie, I'm on my knees looking for you.

If you'd make a sound, squeaky, then I could find you, yeah

We have a love...a love...a love you don't find everyday.

So don't...let...my...duckie slip away.

Duckie (Duckie), Duckie (Duckie),
I beg of you please...please,
I need a bath (I need a bath),
I need a bath (I need a bath),
My duckie goes squeak (My duckie goes squeak),
My duckie goes squeak (My duckie goes squeak).

Please find my rubber duckie,
Because I'm feeling yucky
Can't grow up, I am stuck-y,
'Cause it's gone...gone...gone,
and I can't go on,
noooo...

Please find my rubber duckie,
Because I'm feeling yucky
Can't grow up, I am stuck-y,
'Cause it's gone...gone...gone...

Paints a funny scenario...great work

Ya lose a fraction of a point for reusing the "we had a love ... a love ..." line unmodified, but rounds back up to 5. Maybe a good sub would have been "We used to scrub ... and scrub ..."
Needs to have Ernie from Sesame Street singing this one.

"Not even soap on a rope can stop me from feeling blue". . .Absolutely classic, I can envision the whole thing in my head. . . .I haven't read a whole lot by you--but this is great!

Agreed with McKludge on all points.

Thanks AFW! McKludge: good point. I liked that line as it was, thought it was kind of funny untouched, but your suggestion is brilliant! Thanks Below Average Dave and Agrimorfee!

Ok, here's the reworked line, as per McKludge's suggestion... "We had a a scrub, rub, a dub, we enjoyed everyday"

Love it

This one really entertained me! =D I'm really amused at the bits about hearing the squeak again.

Best "Sesame Street" parody since I turned "Hurt" into "Bert."

Thanks Ann, Wreckage, Bob, TJC, Michael, alvin (I was actually trying for "strangely poignant," so thanks for that ;-) ), and John!

MasonR, I love rubber duckies. I have Betty Boop, Popeye, devil, cowboy and cowgirl duckies (all from Archie McPhee catalog) along with the usual yellow, smiley ones. I would take baths with them, but my bathtub is too tiny for even a Munchkin to use.
