The Lyrics

Not meant to be funny so much as meant to be a mindless rant about how stupid I feel. Which is specifically why I'm sharing it with all you people who couldn't care less. :-)
Though I'm esteemed as a lyrical genius*
Some songs I've tried have caused much inconvenience
Lyrics, satiric, would not come to me
Yes, all these songs, I just can't parody:

"Rhapsody" rhymes made me queasy and bil-ious
"'Pialadocious" left some super-cilious
Couldn't do "Walrus", I just "Let It Be"
These are the songs I cannot parody

"50 Ways" was a dead horse I kept beatin'
"Pie" by McLean got spat out - couldn't eat it
"Edmund Fitzgerald" sunk into the sea
All these are songs I just can't parody

Songs that Donwrites
Tunes that Queen sings
Often drive me mad
They rot, all unfinished, those damn parodies
They're never revealed - too bad.

"Stand" is now "Yesterday"s news - couldn't hack it
"My Girl"s a hit, but I just wanna smack it
"Do" was not re-diant, so ti-dious for mi
These are all songs I just can't parody

"Rainbow" was painful, I needed consoling
No "Satisfaction" from Stones that were Rolling
Righteous? Not this one "Unchained Melody"
All those are songs I cannot parody

Hours on rhyming,
Humor, timing,
Leave me quite displeased
But (like in this case) I submit, all the same
'Cause there's nothing wrong with threes!
*just kidding

I, too, get extremely annoyed by the songs I'm dying to do...but just can't. This is fabulous, Emi...honestly! Great job! 5s!

Me like. Great job. Apparently you are able to parody songs from the Sound of Music, huh?
Ashkicksass - July 21, 2004 - Report this comment

You are a very clever and talented young lady and this excellent parody just helps to prove it! :-)

Indeed, many wish that I would leave many of my works to rot. Great stuff.

Thanks and playful thpanks to the following:

Johnny D - That's what Parody Authors pages are for, actually. ;-) No way I'm writing another song about how great I am, I'm already friendless enough.
Liao Xie - Thanks.
Arwen - I'm flattered, Auntie 'Wen, that we have the same problem! I'm not wor-rrr-thy!!!
Saint Kristof - Good guess, but you were 22 off. Does this mean I win an "Emi" award? *groan*
John Barry - Ohhh, I get it...haha...er...what?
Monica - Aw, thanks. Sweet person.
Meriadoc - I'll have you know that shameless flattery will get you NOWHERE, you witty, debonaire and genius love of my life!
JARLB - And I'll have YOU know that sharing your pathetic self-pity will get you nowhere, you poor, deprived, innocent child. Have a cookie.

Hehe, good job...I just don't usually parody songs other people have done just because it's a)boring or b)I can't remove the other parody out of my mind's eye. 555

They say you're young and you don't know. But we'll find out as soon as you grow. You can do these songs, you'll see it's true. Those parodies will one day come from you... babe. Laugh with you babe. Laugh with you babe.
Serafina - July 23, 2004 - Report this comment
Another very creative parody of this song. Sorry I missed this one the other day; we've been very busy at work this week. Anyway, I enjoyed every line of it, and have to give you a perfect 5-5-5 vote. :)

Spaff.com - July 31, 2004 - Report this comment
Clever, but I call BS. You can parody anything well, evidently.

Cute job (frankly, I won't ever do Edmund, Boho Rhap, or American Pie...they;v all been done to death...and I'm too lazy!) 555

May I just say how brilliant the line 'Do' was not re-diant, so ti-dious for mi' is?
No? What do you mean, no?! *munches cookie*

I missed this one before. Wow! Well done. Proving once and for all that you should be crowned the leader of the amiright youth brigade. I hereby abdicate the throne (who gave me the throne, you ask? Shut up. That's who).

Trust me, if I had a song I've had trouble parodying.... it's Shining Collection. The techno-rock song from the Japanese group Iceman. Done two parodies of it and they are not the best paced. But you, Emi-chan, take great strides to pace the best you can. BTW, just went to Reverb Nation and saw your profile page. I'll have trouble streaming the songs due to dial-up, but I saw your picture, and... I had no clue parodists could be that hot! 555s easily. P.S. Thinking about writing a tribute to you.

Geez Blaze. :-P I come back after my typical lazyass month-long hiatus and I've got fresh comments on moldy parodies! I appreciate your feedback. P.S. Hate to disappoint, but that picture is from several months ago. Here's a more recent one: http://www.abc.net.au/reslib/200808/r281379_1194759.jpg

Nice one, Emi! That's one of the Beijing girls from the Olympics, right? Hey, at least it wasn't a Rick Roll. Hope I'm not getting off at a wrong start for you.
Jake A Ralphing (Luke Brattoni) - July 27, 2009 - Report this comment
Not at all. She absolutely loves when you write a tribute song about her. (Especially when it's done after having seen a photo of her.) Go nuts! :D

Thanks for the advice, Jake! BTW, aren't you Emi's husband/fiancee?
