Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I need food, food
To start my day
I need some eggs eggs, and hey they're ready
But mama said

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
She said toast don't come quickly
It's a game of wait and wait

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
You got to stare at your eggs now
No matter how long it takes

But how many minutes
Must I stand before I get the food
To let me live again
Right now the only thing
That keeps me hangin' on
Is I smell that toast, yeah
Gettin’ golden brown
I remember mama said:

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
She said toast don't come quickly
It's a game of wait and wait

How long must I wait
How much more can I take
Before emptiness will cause extreme
Stomach ache?

No I can't bear to eat my eggs alone
I grow impatient for some toast to call my own
But when I feel that I, I can't go on
These precious words keeps me hangin' on
I remember mama said:

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
She said toast don't come quickly
It's a game of wait and wait

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
You got to stare at your eggs now
No matter how long it takes

Gotta wait!

No, toast, toast don't come easy
But I keep on waiting
Anticipating for that soft spread
Of butter melted right
For that tender crunch
The per-er-fect bite,
I keep waiting
I keep on waiting
But it ain't easy
It ain't easy
But mama said:

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
She said toast don't come quickly
It's a game of wait and wait

You can't hurry toast
No, you just have to wait
Oops it burned, starting over
No matter how long it takes…
It just came to me one morning.... (c) 2010 Michael Juergens

Great job, Michael! Liked the way you left the original lines when they complemented the story. And boy can I relate to the story, eggs getting cold and colder waiting for toast that sometimes never comes.

(SOTM) Had a few funny lines in it. It just seemed so repetitive. It was like you were spitting out the same joke over and over again. No matter how funny something is, it can get old after awhile. Pacing was great, just not enough jokes in it. 534.

I agree with Mr. Blaydeman on this one. It's great to see new flesh and blood enter these contests but this particular song kept too many of the original's lyrics and didn't really add much except for the fact that you were hungry for toast. Why can't we hurry toast? Toast comes pretty easy all you need to do is stick bread into the toaster.

SOTM: I agree with Matt, I thought this was a good idea, but it just wasn't executed well enough. Way too much of the original song left in there...but hey, I guess you'll just have to wait for it to come to ya!

SOTM - A 'toast" to one of the best parodies on TOAST...LOL

Actually, you can hurry toast, if you do it the way they did in Police Academy 2 (I think it was that movie) when they smacked one on the wall and used a flame thrower on it for half a second. Beyond that I'm with Blaydeman, Matthias and Abbott on too much of the original left in, not often but sometimes that's OK, but even then the reasons should be explained in the intro methinks.

Nice song, "You'll just have to wait" did work with your version, so I didn't have an issue with that (could have been varied from chorus to chorus though).

Mmmmm...extra butter.

This one is a great idea, love the original, but it seems to run out of steam. Your chorus variation was okay-but it could of been a tad stronger. I also felt you could have showed the impatience of waiting for the food to finish to put it over the top, Like Jeff I don't have a probably keeping elements of TOS if it fits with the new song. Overall a decent write:)

(SOTM) Like others have said, keeping in a few too many lines from the OS kinda hurts the parody, as does the lack of real chorus variation. Also seemed to not really go anywhere, which is also a detriment. Overall the parody was decent, and you are apparently new here, so you get some slack in those areas.
