The Lyrics

As I'm sure most everyone knows, particularly the Mayans, nothing dire is going to happen on 12/21/12 when the Mayan calendar supposedly ends. So I thought it would be amusing to poke some fun at the doomsayers who promoted this myth. And if the doomsayers turn out to be correct, well, I won't be around for them to criticize, so what do I care.

I'm posting this early, because I know from experience that if I don't, someone might beat me to the punch. So as you're reading it, imagine it's 12:01 am on 12/21/12...
Frea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-eak! The sun runs away
Blea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-eak! We're undone today

A breeze is up, a sea is rough, a seaman flubs, a reef is struck
A fleet is sunk, a sleet abrupt, a wheezin' lung, a freezin' butt
A Jeep is rust, a heap of dust, a feeble truck, a leakin' clutch
A street is plugged, a field of blood, a scheme corrupts, a scream is brusque

Windows rumble, the dying grumble
The Mayans freak tonight
Symbols crumble and science fumbles
And time will cease tonight

Run's done
A reaper clucks, a demon huffs, a genie puffs, an evil gush
A stream is sludged, a creek is flushed, a tree is shucked, a weed is plucked
A dweeb is thumped, a geek is stumped, a key is touched, a screen is stuck
A Beam is chugged, a cheek is blushed, a seat is buffed, a spree erupts

Fear is chilling, police all milling
The Mayans freak tonight
Beer is spilling and riots killing
And time will cease tonight

Run's done
A gene is subbed, a feat is fudged, a seed with stubs, a greasy spud
A pea is mushed, a bean is stuffed, a beet is tough, a peach is funked
A flea is drugged, a screechin' bug, a bee is gruff, a queen is snubbed
A steed is tusked, a sheep is trussed, a beast is smudged, a feast is junked

[Instrumental Break]

Rushed by starlings and deer flies darting
The Mayans freak tonight
Dusk-dive starting, the years departing
And time will cease tonight

Run's done
A grievin' slut, a heavin' bust, a creed is dumped, a priest is trumped
A thief is mugged, a squeamish thug, creep is drunk, a teen is punked
A sleeve is tugged, a sheet untucked, a sleep is scrubbed, a dream is chucked
A plea rebuffed, a screed is hushed, a glee is snuffed, a people judged

Frea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-eak! The sun runs away
Blea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-ea-eak! We're undone today

Brilliant, a tour de force. But pity the poor performer who might have to learn it by heart. I didn't know foreboding omens could be so much fun. The world should end more often. 555

Might as well go out with a good laugh first....

Outstanding substitutions for all the "We mo ways". When I read that first line of the first stanza, you can imagine what I thought this parody was going to be about. "Rushed by starlings" is a particularly harmonious phrase. I know you are using the condensed version of your name because you want your 200th "Malcolm" to be something really special. Considering what I've seen recently, that number 200 is going to be a real thriller.

Just like Christmas - beat the rush. LOL on the title and some great lines. Maybe, Washington thinks the Mayans are right, so why bother with a fiscal cliff solution.

One of my faves from today. Some inspired stuff here, and creative use of the "whim-away" thingy line.

Thanks everyone!

@Patrick: You ability to see things that others miss continues to amaze me (re: the unintended Fitz reference). To set the record straight. Leo Keough's count is only 99, not 199. But with your remark about the next one being a real thriller, you've set the bar too high for what I had in mind, so it looks like I'll have to go to work and come up with something better.

Love it---great rhyming, concept and 'aural visuals'!

My favorite was 'a pea is mushed'. And if the end really were coming, I am sure some Amirighters would be doing more than 'trussing' the sheep...

TJC: Always appreciate it when you drop by!! Thanks!

Meriadoc: Thanks! There was another near-rhyme sub I toyed with using there, but I restrained myself!

Some sterling work here - you took those 'wim-oh-wehs' to a whole new level of brilliance! Of course the 'bigger than Pluto' Planet X/Nibiru is supposed to come and smash into Earth on the 21st, but no sign of it yet... if it doesn't get a move on it's going to be late! Or maybe it just changed its mind... never mind 12/21/12, I'm giving a 5/5/5 for this masterpiece!
