The Lyrics

...to Fred Phelps and the monster he created, Westboro Baptist Church.
Westboro Baptist Church are we! (Talking 'bout our congregation)
We hate almost all we see! (It is our dedication!)
We hate gays and Finns and Swedes (It is not discrimination!)
and Jews and Fems and Vets, indeed! (We have equal aggravation!)

That's our congregation!
That's our congregation, baby!

No, no, we are not a cult (Talking 'bout our congregation)
although we everyone insult (A lot of ways of defamation)
We are Calvinist, and well - (Most of all, predestination)
all you folks are doomed to Hell! (You are born to reprobation)

That's our congregation!
That's our congregation, baby!

Bible is our sacred book (But not God's love and consolation!)
But not that Jesus gobbledygook (Joshua's book - our inspiration!)
We love recite psalm 109 (It's all wrath and vindication!)
and we just love to rant and whine (We do with determination!)

That's our congregation!
That's our congregation, baby!

Picketing the funerals (All across the Eagle Nation)
our way to show we hate them all (in Hell there is no segregation)
We cry out loud "God Hates Fags!" (wish them early inhumation)
and we love burning US flags (arrange 'em a live cremation!)

That's our congregation!
That's our congregation, baby!

We are one big family (Yes, lots of consanguination)
We relate you all angrily (Every moral deviation)
You'd better take us seriously ('Cause we abuse the legislation)
and not make fun or parody (No jokes about our congregation)

That's our congregation!
That's our congregation, baby!

I wasn't aware that Fred Phelps and his merry band of bashers was so widely known. You have put the Who song to very good use. If you have Google Earth you can take a look at the Phelps "compound". The address is 3701 S.W. 12th Street, Topeka, Kansas. The Rainbow House is across the street at SW 12th and Orleans. You can probably scroll around the whole neighborhood. The Phelps compound is an English Tudor style building with a very high fence.. I never quite understood the doctrine of predestination. Why would God create souls who were destined to be lost? If neither faith nor works will save you, what is the point? Especially if you are predestined, then sin will not condemn you? There must be some secular or practical value to cooperation with your fellow beings that transcends divine threats of punishment. And, if all these souls are doomed anyway, (and I don't recall Westboro ever preaching repentance), their ranting is of no use, since it makes no difference if the sinner changes his ways or not. Europe was at war for several hundred years over such theological speculations (actually political power grabs), until everyone got bored or moved to America. Really liked your song, Maybe you should send a copy to Westboro.
