Plopping down nine bucks to see another white guy acting as the "Savior"
Just as if the world needs something more to push fanatical behavior
The public doesn't want to know if truth's denied

Hollywood has skewered the Bible for many, many years. They can never film the truth, and this song says it succinctly. All 5s.
Interesting parody, Rick. Sheryl and I saw The Passion of the Christ a couple weeks ago, and I don't recall anyone exhibiting fanatical behavior, least of all ourselves. Have you seen the film, so that you can reason for yourself, or are you basing your opinions on what some people have said on TV? I work for an international Christian Mnistry, with bases in over 150 countries. Our president, Jane Hansen recently met with the Chief Rabbi of Israel. The highest levels of government in Israel are very supportive of us, as we are of the state of Israel. The accusations against The Passion of the Christ and Christians in general of being anti-semetic, is not based in truth. The question isn't "Mel Gibson can you hear me?" It's God asking mankind, "Can you hear ME?".

Rick - sharp parody - perfectly paced and all the syllable sounds even fall right on the money! I'd say you really nailed this one (sorry folks, I couldn't help it...no offense is meant...Truly).
No, Dave, I haven't seen the movie, and won't. The whole thing is based on the media frenzy, and a few parts on Mel's own comments. (Don't go there, Diane) Everybody was asking about offence to Jews, although I don't care, the press goes way overboard about this stuff. I know the crack about fanaticism might be somewhat unfair, but the fact that this "untraditional" movie about torture (scripted in a dead language) is raking in big bucks proves that something is going on. I just wrote it as an experiment in being more topical.
When I was a teen this song used to go thru my head CONSTANTLY. Then over the years it kind of faded and I forgot all about it. And now..... AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! Well at least I now have new words to hear.... :-/
I hear what you're saying, Rick. The movie isn't about torture, though, and who killed Jesus. The point of The Passion is to illustrate the price Jesus paid to reconcile sinful mankind with holy God. To a Christian, the blood He shed is central to redemption, which is why Mel focussed so much attention to it. BTW, long before the media frenzy, The Passion was being greatly anticipated in the Christian community, and was already destined to be very successful at the box office. Aside from the religious aspects, it really is an incredible cinematic effort, considering the small budget Mel had to work with. Just some background for anyone who cares.
I still got more entertainment value from "Jesus Christ, Superstar". Few people go to a movie to be saved, just like most usually haven't gone to church to be entertained. (It's always a pleasant surprise if either of those happens though, isn't it?)
