R.I.P. Pete Seeger (1919-2014) and what better way to memorialize him than do a parody or two of his music. Though the music and lyrics of this song are from Tom Paxton, Pete Seeger's performance of the tune is the most recognized. What did you learn in School Today...besides learning to despise school...
What Did You Learn in School Today? (2014 Update)

(Sung to "What did you learn in School Today" Words and Music by Tom Paxton / As performed by Pete Seeger)

What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
I learned that Steroids will gain you a bye.
I learned that you shouldn't wonder why.
I learned that if you juice you can fly very high...
But Gambling will gain you a stick in the eye.
That's what I learned in school today.
That's what I learned in school.

What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
I learned that leaders can be autocratic.
I learned that EBT funds are automatic.
I learned that governance can be very static.
I learned why the masses vote Democratic.
That's what I learned in school today.
That's what I learned in school.

What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
I learned that government is a game you can't win.
Because we elect the same fools again and again.
Our leaders are the finest men?
Where's my emetic version of Phen-Phen?
That's what I learned in school today.
That's what I learned in school.

What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
What did you learn in school today,
Dear little boy of mine?
I learned that the POTUS sees us as helot slaves.
as he betrays what our ancestors gave...
He's nothing better than a hack and a knave
as he drives our republic into its grave....
That's what I learned in school today.
That's what I learned in school

We need more balladeers with a social conscience for today's problems. The media would never play them, however. This is a real classic. I think Seeger tended to lean toward the left, but I also think he had a respect for the truth. Too bad we are governed by lies.
