The Lyrics

There was a big article in the local paper about tech jobs being moved to India. In order to encourage this from American companies, the Indian tech force are given classes in our holidays and sports teams, and in smoothing their accents. The ones I've spoken to also take on simple American names to avoid the "What? How do you spell that?" thing. I find it ironic that you can call Bangalore, India and not realize that the person helping you is not an American, but you try to order a burger from a clown, and that person you cannot understand is.
Oh, beautiful is India
A giant labor force
They talk our talk
They have degrees
We'll hire them, of course
The valley that was silicon
Now moved to Bangalore
And pay them several grand a year
Cause people here want more

Just wait till this trend catches on
Our jobs will go away
It doesn't matter where you sit
This planet's small today
So when you need to buy or sell
Just call a guy named "Joe"
His name is really "Bhupendra"
But you will never know

Bangalore is located in the bottom half of India.

See what that Johnny Seven robot started? Nice parody and all too true I fear.

Good one! You know they started moving jobs there several years ago but no one cared because the economy was so good but now everyone's up in arms!

Why did you use 60S as the decade?

It probably doesn't matter.

Did Ray Charles do his version in the Sixties? That would explain it.

Y'know. Sometimes I post two in one day and I forget to change something. It's okay, mock me! I can take it! Sniff. You people are so relentless. Relentless I say! Never let a subject drop. Don't let go for a single moment! Just keep hammering and hammering away at a little bitty typo. Oh, I think I must go mad! Aaarrggghhhh!

Good choice of song for this type of parody; I like the irony. :-)

I'm always amazed at what attracts attention here and what doesn't. This one was done in 5 minutes, not really funny, just ironic, and I almost didn't put it on, and it scraped up 11 votes. "Suite Sistine Ceiling" and "Klaus, Do the Hedge" and some others that I worked so hard on hardly got noticed. When I was slamming all my beatle parodies on, I didn't really know about the top ten, or the comments list, and they sort of went in under the radar. Don't get me wrong, I'm really grateful for the powerful motivation, and writing here brought me out of a slump. But I have the same problem with my own songs. Something silly and quick I dash off, everybody likes. And the masterpieces I slave over go right in the cutout bin. I guess that's why succesful people have managers that tell them what to do.

You noticed that too, huh? I have had that scenario played for me before too. Still great job. I spent a whole day once on a Dire Straits song (Sultans of Swing). I played that song and sang my parody to it until I had it paced perfect. It barely got noticed.

It was good. Five_five_five from me.

This looks like you just dashed it off. Little more effort next time, eh?

Rick, is that your way of hinting to us that we need to go back and read some of your other stuff? Just kidding!! I have experienced the exact same phenomenon. I guess you never know what tickles peoples funny bone. Visa song... ride home from the grocery store. Turkey song... hours slaving over Rod Stewart's irregular rhythm and rhyme. (That's not a plug, you guys, don't worry, I'm over it!)

Rick, I'm giving you a "1" for each minute you spent on this parody suffering for your art (In laymen's terms "5"). It isn't the quantity of time you spend on it that counts. I believe it was Mozart who observed that a good movement should last five minutes. If, however, you find yourself on the john twenty minutes later - you're in deep doo-doo.

well i got here very late, but i still comment! this was by far the best parody of this song i've read including my own (you will vote, you will vote.....) and it's so true! it was two stanzas short, but still great work.

When I looked it up on the net, that's what it gave me. There's probably lots of alternate verses. And thanks.
