The Lyrics

One of our family traditions is a special poem during the Passover meal. No one said it had to be serious....
If I were a seder,
Daidle deedle daidle
Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum;
All day long I'd cook the bird "til crisp,
Like our mothers used to do.

Now I have a new thought,
Daidle deedle daidle
Daidle daidle deedle daidle dum.
Get the meal all cooked and pre-prepared,
That's a new age seder meal.

Let's think about the possibilities and chances
for some culinary change,
if we simply use some creative thought.
We could do fast food main course, bake'ry desserts
with some pinot for each plague,
or just ten desserts and nothing more!

Now I've got the answer,
Daidle deedle daidle
Daidle daidle deedle daidle deet.
Let's just get the mystery to go,
Let's acknowledge what we want to know,
When it's time for questions to be asked,
Let the fourth be "How soon can we eat?"

Good parody, but why not settle for mazos and red wine like Jesus did?

Not an easy song to do. I've tried, imagining Bush singing "If I Were a Smart Man." Oy, it was bad. Someday, somebody will do the whole song -- the musical version, not the Gwen version -- and nail it. Then we will have the answer to the question, "Why is this night different from all the others?"
