The Lyrics

Since Guy beat me to "Pissin' On The Music", I'll just have to console myself with this one. That riff at the end of this song always bugged me. This is not autobiographical.
Lord, I was born to play guitar
Tryin' to make a livin' while livin' inside my car
But I should have taken lessons
Then I might understand
How to string or tune this old guitar

Well, my father told me, "Don't go into music
"You got a tin ear, fingers made of lead"
And naturally, I had to disobey him
Got an axe, practiced before bed

Lord, I was born to play guitar
Tryin' to make a livin' while livin' inside my car
Only learned these two notes
So I gotta stretch 'em far
Fakin' my way on this old guitar

Went to play at many an audition
Played both of the high notes that I knew
Every band I tried told me the same thing
"Don't call us, we'll get in touch with you"

Lord, I was born to play guitar
Tryin' to make a livin' while livin' inside my car
It sounds a lot better when they're drunk
So I play at this bar
Same old stupid song on this guitar

Lord, I was born to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was born to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was born to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was bored to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was born to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was born to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was born to play this riff (deedle-dee)
Lord, I was bored to play this riff (deedle-dee)

Rick - Hey this is great. I caught your comment on my song late last night and just had to beat it here to check it out. No disappointment. Hey would you like to do any of my songs on your RAD & MAD label?

I'm an Allman Brothers fan, and you did this classic justice. Well done. 5's

We don't have a label. That's just our funny song act name. I am trying out some of the songs I find here at our open mike venue. We did Claude's "Jedi" and might do Phil's "Difficult Bits" We can only do 2 songs a week, and one of them is always gonna be one of ours. But recording may eventually be an option. I'm thinking of posting some once we get a roomy MP3 site. Where do you live, Guy?
