The Lyrics

I did this parody in support of SONRAP (Save Our Nash Rambler Please) foundation. Please give the site a look and maybe make a small contribution to a worthy cause. Here's the link : http://www.vhtrc.org/files/nash-rambler.htm
Lord, I was born a Rambler man,
Wouldn't have a Gremlin, I'm drivin' this old rust can.
I try to keep from weavin',
Drinking my favorite brand.
Glad I'm born a Rambler man.

Well, my father stole a Rambler down in Georgia,
But he bound out on the wrong lane now he's done.
He heard the horn off a cross street from a Greyhound bus,
Right after that it weren't no fun.

Lord, I was born a Rambler man,
Wouldn't have a Gremlin, I'm drivin' this old rust can.
I try to keep from weavin',
Drinking my favorite brand.
Glad I'm born a Rambler man.

Instrumental Interlude

I think my engine's runnin' lean this mornin',
Pop the hood and give a quit look see.
Was always cleanin' that black grime off of that old blue Ford.
This Rambler's 'bout as grimy as can be.

Lord, I was born a Rambler man,
Wouldn't have a Gremlin, I'm drivin' this old rust can.
I'll try to keep from weavin',
Drinking my favorite brand.
Glad I'm born a Rambler man.

Lord, I was born a Rambler man,
Lord, I was born a Rambler man,
Lord, I was born a Rambler man,
Lord, I was born a Rambler man...

(ABCs) I would donate to this worthy cause, but our Australian currency would convert my CEO Circle cash into Greaser pennies. This one was a laugh!

Gotta say I enjoyed Guy's version a lot more than the original dirge! Thanks for brightening the song up!

Great tribute to American Motors, but you could have included Pacer, Alliance, Encore, Matador, Concord or Spirit as well as Gremlin

(ABC) never had a Rambler - had a Pinto once, more out of necessity than choice ( $300, on the spot, which was about all I had at the time). What a pile of junk!. 5's on this parody, though...

I'll second what JJ said about the SONRAP site - it put a smile on my face that lasted all the way through the parody :-)

My dad worked for AMC in the '60s, so I grew up with Ramblers until we moved to California. People always seem to think of the funny AMC cars like the Metro, Gremlin, Pacer, or Eagle. They forget about the AMX, Javelin, and LAPD Matadors. And, of course, the many Ramblers.
