On further reflection--I have an old book of humorous poems published in 1939 by Earl H. Emmons (cost $1.00) I wonder if anyone here has heard if it. Among the amazing dittys in this tome is an ode to "The Old Backhouse" It is so flowery and touching that it qualifies as great poetry. First verse; When memory keeps me company and moves to smiles or tears A weather-beaten object looms through the mist of years Behind the house and barn it stood, a hundred yards or more And hurrying feet a path made, straight to it's swinging door Its architecture was a type of simple classic art But in the tragedy of life it played a leading part And oft the passing traveler drove slow, and heaved a sigh To see the modest hired girl slip out with glances shy..... Old Earl would have found a home here...
I wonder if that book is still in publication? Sounds like something I would get lost in, since I like books. Does it have a name?

It's called "Rowdy Rhymes" by the Peter Pauper Press (Poor Earl doesn't even get his name on the cover. Maybe in 1939 bawdy poets had to hide behind their publishers)
