The Lyrics

For the mathematically inclined ***Note: I just came up with a much improved line from the version I submitted several hours ago. If possible use this version instead***
Imaginary numbers, logic's barely sound
When the real numbers turn you away, they're around
Computation error, square root minus 3
Does not compute, my, what will it be? You'll see

Imaginary number
You're i anytime
Imaginary number, oh yeah

Can ordinary numbers square to minus 1?
No real-life quantities can get it done

It's a solution unreal
Imaginary number, imaginary number
You're i anytime

[Instrumental Interlude]

Imaginary numbers make it all complete
They always solve, they're always there when you need

All equations all degrees
Imaginary number, imaginary number
You're i all the time
My imaginary number
You're i anytime

To us electrical engineers, It's "j", not "i" :-)

"i" will always be for current.

Unusual and interesting idea. When I 1st saw the parody title, before scaning left to the OS title, I was expecting the tune to be Bobby Darin's "Artificial Flowers," which the title sub fits quite nicely. :-)

McKludge: alternate lyrics - Imaginary numbers give us signal phase, we don't i's but use j's

Don't worry, I'll give you the quite real number of 5.
