Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Don't "Gaslight" me, Bro! Let the chips fall where they may!
News "Stories" occur in their own respective times.
Stunning, compelling headlines of "The Way Things Were".
"Reporting" can be informative but yet.
What contradicts the "Narrative",
Gets "downplayed" hoping "We" forget.
But it's the "Truth!"
That people will remember!
Whenever "Media" attempts to "Dismember"
"The Way Things Were".

Could it be when "Truth" is unflattering.
Must it be "Retconned" every time?
If the "Truth" could be "Sanitized"
Tell me, would "We?"
Should "We?"

The "Media" must be "Vital" but yet.
Only if "Honestly" reporting, without bias and regret.
It's the "Truth!"
"We" will remember!
An ever-burning ember!
"The Way Things Were!"

Good job! The story line was very similar to the OS (that people have selective memories of past events), but you did expand it from one of private memories to the public at-large. You added five lines (from "Gets downplayed" to "The way things were.") Your tendency not to match syllable count makes it awkward to tell if I should sing it as an extra verse, or an extra bridge. But overall, I thought it was good. Thank you. And I look forward to your next submission.
