Original Song Title:

"Copacabana"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Barry Manilow

Parody Song Title:

"Solo And Indiana"

Parody Written by:

Arwen

The Lyrics

His name is Solo
He flies a Star Ship
And with his faithful Wookiee friend
Helps ensure the Dark Side’s end
He’s such a tough guy
Who could defeat him?
Long as he’s free from carbonite
Think he’d always win a fight

But there’s one guy I know
Though from a diff’rent show
He might give Han a run for his money
If it came to blows!

What if Solo fought Indiana?
Whose bull whip could take out Atlanta?
Could Han Solo beat Indiana?
One thing I’m knowin’
They’d both make a showin’
Would Han Solo…take Indy on?

(Solo…and Indiana)

Let’s look at Indy
Leather clad hero
By day he’s stuck in a classroom
But at night he’s raidin' tombs
He fights off Nazis
And bad Cult leaders
And though he has a fear of snakes
Vic-tor-y he always takes

Solo might be the one
Indy’s glory undone
I can’t think of a better rival
For Sean Con’ry’s son!

Could Han Solo take Indiana?
On Tatooine or Texarkana?
If Han Solo fought Indiana
Which brave contender
Would force a surrender
If Han Solo...took Indy on?

(Solo…and Indiana)
(Solo…and Indiana)
(Oh Indiana)
(Ahh…ahh…ahh…ahh…)
(Ahhhhhhhh)
(Solo…and Indiana)
(Which one’s a hero? Is one a zero?)
(Which one is stronger? Who would last longer?)

(Instrumental)

The match up’s perfect
Both men are champions
Solo could fight a million clones
Can he handle Dr. Jones?
Indy loves hist’ry
And mystic relics
And since he found the Holy Grail
I don’t think that he can fail

Which one’s the best, the worst?
I’d bet, if I’m coerced
On Dr. Jones I would place my money
Unless HAN SHOT FIRST!

Would Han Solo beat Indiana?
Got this answer from my dear Nana:
“Both Han Solo and Indiana
Would end up dyin’
If they fought Jack Ryan!”

Poor Han Solo…Indy I love
Both men I love…

(Solo…and Indiana)

(repeat and fade)

(Instrumental to end)

Ahhh...my security code is RD2...I think I'm missing a number in there...; )

So Harrison Ford vs Harrison Ford? Hmmmmm.... My money is on Harrison Ford. Loved the reference to "Han shot first". This one was deliciously nerdy.

Great trib to Harrison Ford's best! I bet that Indiana could take on Solo anytime! LOL (j/k)! : D No, it would be fun to see them go head to head with each other! Ditto to all comments above and here's some adventurous and epic 5's!

Very, very creative concept. Great job of working in Jack Ryan. This reminds me of what Harrison Ford's son said at school when each student had to say something about a parent, "My father is an actor - sometimes he plays the good guy and sometimes he plays the lawyer."
Kristof Robertson - January 12, 2010 - Report this comment
A wonderfully original premise, babe! And I now can't get the mental picture of Harrison Ford salsa-ing with Manilow out of my head...so thanks for that! :-D 555

Am I the only one who was having horribly delicious thoughts about being in a sandwich between Han and Indy? And then you brought Jack Ryan in and I just about fell off my chair! I absolutely loved this! Nothing nerdy about it. Oh wait...that was the point huh? Well...ok...it was nerdy. And super hot!

Wow, I thought only boys thought of "If so-and-so fought what's-his-face." Well, here's the answer: If they're using weapons, Han's blaster beats Indy's handgun unless Indy is a considerably faster draw -- and being born in 1899 doesn't count if it was in Princeton, New Jersey. If it's hand-to-hand, Indy's got a bit more experience, and he doesn't need Chewbacca to have his back. But James Marshall (the President played by Ford in "Air Force One") could outfight either one. Yeah, it's pathetic that we think of this stuff, but pathetic can be funny, and that's the purpose of Amiright, isn't it?

Thanks to all of you for your votes and comments. This was a fun one for me, and I'm glad you liked it. I was going to go through and thank everyone individually...and then remembered how lazy I am. ; ) You are all appreciated, individually, in my heart!

Oh, and Ash...Yes...I think you're the only one. But I love you for it. =)

(Dec3) It is the question of the ages, passed down by philosophers since the dawn of the internets...no, wait, that's Unicron vs. the Death Star. My bad. ANYway, great parody, 555, blah blah blah.

Ha. Funny with outstanding pacing as usual. My faves included 'classroom/tomb', 'tatooine or texarkana' and the Sean cameo. Now write one about Rocky at 60 vs Rambo at 60.

What sucks is I purposely went to read this, loved it, even sent a pm about it. But didn't comment. I really do suck this week! Awesome song.

Still surprised that I won the Nerd round with my Pokemon parody against this, because this was brilliant. It earned top marks from me in Decathlon and most likely will do the same here in SOTM.

Seeing the title and the OS I first felt as giddy as an arthritic slug in carbonite but this one won me over faster than the draw of Han, top notch parody from a top notch experienced parodist! :-)

I hate to say this Arwen, but I am not really as familiar with these two movies as I would need to really get all the references, it's very well written, the rhyming and pacing are as good as always, but I had a little trouble getting into this one. . .

Sorry I missed this when it was posted. Absolute brilliance! As soon as I started reading I was wondering how you were going to work in the "Han shot first" line, and you did not fail. The parody force is strong with you, even if you have only posted three so far this year.
