The Lyrics

This writer, like this song, needs no introduction, not even this one.

If you go surfin'
And stumble onto this place
You need divertin'
From North Kentucky's top ace
Then it's for certain
He'll put a smile on your face
He's the Band Man!

He's Old Man Ribber
His parodies are "the most"
A fine ad-libber
When he has comments to post
So I'm a "trib"-ber
And I'm proposing a toast
To the Band Man

Ain't no chump on stage
Gets raves; socks it to 'em: A big "ham"
Ka-ra-o-ke
A song, a joke, from the Resident Band Man
On the slide trombone
He shows all the folks he can still jam
Bet your bippy, he can
Élan: All-American Band Man

Obama: stompin'
The Left: a hoppin' bad day (Stomp on O)
Those cigs: hard, stoppin'
Thank Heaven: AmIRight, yay! (No smoke, blow)
Those drinks, he's sloppin'
On all the music they play (Play cello)
Bud'sâ„¢ gone; are you sick? Oy, vay! (Belgium, go)
Find new brand, man!

Band Man
He can!
AIR fans:
Big hand!

Tech knowledge: low
He's gotta go!
Rosie on show
Franken? No!

Trip to Oslo, embark
An old teacher, slumpin'
He made songs for us just to help his brain thrive

Hey, he pens a quick lark
What a Pres you have there!
The Right and Left are hot here
Thanksgiving feast
S.E.I.U.: their violence is jive!

Best not step on toes
There goes our American grand land
Our free speech gone
Says Old Man Ribber, a man: never bland stand!

An expensive show:
Dough, blowin, buy clunkers: a bad plan
His idea, give whirl:
Trade in Grandma, Grandpa for young man!

Submits his tune in
Acquaint the latest, do we
And Fives, is strewn in
His grin and wink, trademark, he
His scores, balloonin'
Our wish (no "maybe") for thee:
Hope: expand, planned!

Wife: Diet Cokeâ„¢-in'
(Weight loss, baby, weight loss) (watch it go!)
The Jester, jokin'; fair play
His stings: no stoppin'!

(Whom fool, watching two duel?) (Reid, Pelo-)
The Rod Blagojevich way
Her seams are poppin'
(what mule, Lady, go drool -- ) (crave Jelloâ„¢!)
She will make you sick, I'd say
Watch: expand, "can"

It's all schlock: votes stole; on dole from the health care plan
Ne'er a flop; on top, since he first began:
We're in! Write on! Churn on! Big grin! Rock on!
Hurray! Band man!

Today only-- we threw in an extra "bonus" line! 4th stanza down.. "On all the music they play" is part of OS, and didn't get erased. But all the more lines with which to tribute our dear OMR... Besides, there's *always* room for cello.... (rim shot). :D

(Blushing and for the first time truly at a loss for words) I bow in humble thanks. I'll see you at the Bow and Shell later. ;D

DKTOS (now that I know what that means). Nice to be on a site where most of the participants wish each other well. OMR seems to appreciate some of my efforts. I see his comments all the time.

Always look for the Ribber posts; he has a style and flair all his own and uses some interesting OS. Nice tribute.

This is the American Bandstand theme, right? Anyway, good tribute

Great tribute to Old Man Ribber, the Band Man himself! A talented parody artist, pun-master (hence the name "Old Man Ribber" , a take on "Old Man River" ), and comedian! This OS is perfect for his tribute and lyrics goes very well with it! 555's!

Great tribute to one of my favorite AmIRighters, on a highly underrated and quite good Barry Manilow OS. While he and I are nearly polar opposites politically, he's still a great online friend who leaves great comments on my parodies and those of others. 5s.

Nice salute to one of AIR's top encouragers and punsters. Well done, TT & FG!

Old Man Ribber: Ah, *finally* found a way to render you speechless! (Pay up, Fg - told ya! j/k!) Nahh, we *love* yer Ribbing and comments! ... BTW, whatever happened to that royalty check from P&G that you said you'd pick up for us? Ran off with it, eh? Chucky, delete this tribute!

The reason is that not all of us (cough) have the luxury of reading and commenting on our employer's time. So with that, or with time zone differences, some of us arrive after you've already replied once, so we never know whether our comments were seen, appreciated, hated, whatever ... and I so hate to waste an OMR-worthy (I hope) witty comment. Thanks... and it's we who are thanking you for your many wonderful contributions to the site. Just knowing that you appreciated is all that we could possibly hope for in return.

Patrick: Glad TT's parody was useful. :) Yep, OMR's comments are well-known. Thanks.

Timmy1000: Couldn't have said it better ourselves. Thanks.

Phil Nelson: Indeed, it is. Thanks.

2Eagle: Thanks, but will I/we be getting only turtle pics from now on, or will we ever deserve a comment? ;)

Christie Marie M: Which is exactly why we did *not* use "Old Man River" as TOS. As said at the other parody, prefer not to use the most obvious title switches. This OS was Fg's idea, and a darn good one, even though TT DK it. Thanks for v/c! (btw, you *do* know the pun behind AFW's nick, right?)

Andria: Proof that people can disagree respectfully. OMR manages to stay almost everyone's friend, except for certain flamers not worthy of mention. Thanks for v/c.

Warren Baker: Rim shot! ... oh, wait, that was a *serious* comment, wasn't it? .... some day, I'll get them straight. :-D (j/k -- thanks for v/c!)

Mark Scotti: Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Old Man's Tribber: He's the Henny Youngman of AIR, Old Man! Thank ewe!

To Whomever Voted 4 on "Funny": It's your right, of course, but just so you know, a tribute is a genre unto itself, not necessarily rib-tickling. Note that we've linked 31 (count 'em, thirty-one) of OMR's 155 songs, and it was *very* hard to choose! Click on some of those -- *that's where the "funny" part comes from, and we think OMR is 5+ funny. No hard feelings, though -- cheers!
