Parody Song Title:

"Barack Obama"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

(long instrumental opening)

His name is Limbaugh.
He does a show on
syndicated talk radio
but some things he doesn't know:
His views were soundly
so much rejected
when we all went to the polls
we chose someone else's goals.
And now Rush Limbaugh's sore.
His views we all deplore.
We selected Democrat as
Number 44!

Here's the new guy!
Barack Obama!
We voted for him, so... yo' mama!
Here's the new guy!
Barack Obama!
Sick of your drivel, so here is a liberal!
It's Obama!

Let's get to work...

His name is Joey.
He comes from Scranton.
Ran for big job, now he's Vice
but he thinks the job is nice.
Her name is Hillary.
She was First Lady.
Now she's running things at State.
Not her first choice of a fate.
The Repubs' insults flew.
Their trust was smashed in two.
They think obstruction is the right way
but just who hurt who?

Not the big man!
Barack Obama!
He's risen above all this drama!
He's the big man!
Barack Obama!
Save and create jobs in spite of those big slobs!
It's Obama!

Let's get to work!

(instrumental break)

His name was Ronald.
GOP loved him.
But that was 20 years ago
when they still controlled the flow.
Now even disco
is hated less than
the Republican way of life.
It has given us this strife.
They sit there so refined.
Their hatred leaves them blind.
They've lost the Congress and the White House!
Now they've lost their minds!

So, go get 'em!
Barack Obama!
He was born in Hawaii, not Ghana!
Sir, go get 'em!
Barack Obama!
We're in recession, but he's a progression!
He's Obama!

Let's get to work...
(Go get 'em... )
Let's get to work...
(Barack Obama... )

(long instrumental fadeout)

Not bad, MP. Your criticisms of the political right are probably deserved. But when you try to praise Obama, he hasn't done anything yet, so you are left with inserting lines about where he wasn't born. OK.

The original song had a catchy, upbeat melody. I don't think most listeners realized it was the tragic tale of a woman whose lover was murdered by a gangster and spent the rest of her life in an alcoholic stupor dreaming of what might have been. In my view, that makes it an appropriate melody in so many ways for a song about the Saviour from Chicago, the Chosen One of the Ages.

Patrick, I think you have "most listeners" confused with the kids who dance along to "Y.M.C.A." who don't know it's about gay cruisers picking up teenage runaways. Obama is the chosen one, chosen on November 4 of last year. But unlike Republicans with their worship of Ronald Reagan (still), we liberals don't turn our Presidents into divinities.
