Original Song Title:

"Let It Be"

Original Performer:

Beatles

Parody Song Title:

"Janet Leigh"

Parody Written by:

Rick Duncan

The Lyrics

A tribute to a legend.
When I find myself in motel showers
One film image comes to me
Tony Perkins stabbin'
Janet Leigh

And though it's just a movie
I keep thinking someone's after me
Screaming like a banshee
Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Violins are shrieking
Janet Leigh

And when the late show airs it, showing
Alfred Hitchcock on T.V.
I just have to look at
Janet Leigh

I hate it when she bares it, though the
Edits go by rapidly
Black and white blood drips from
Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Open eyeball staring
Janet Leigh

(Strings only solo)

And through the curtain cloudy
There's a shape that I can barely see
Gonna do me just like
Janet Leigh

I raise a loud godawful ruckus
Look at what was scaring me
Just my little daughter
Had to pee

Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Man, I'm still remem'brin'
Janet Leigh

Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Janet Leigh Janet Leigh
Should have kept on driving
Janet Leigh

Good tribute that came on time. Speaking of tributes, does anyone remember that Oct. 2 was the fiftieth anniversary of the day "Peanuts" was first published?
Paul Robinson - October 05, 2004 - Report this comment
very nice job, Rick, I just saw the news item about Janet Leigh in the paper a couple minutes ago before I came online. 5's...the line about your daughter was really good, too...

It just dawned on me that yesterday afternoon while I was driving I was listening to a song where a reference to the "Psycho" shower scene is mentioned, although it is a bit hard to make it out because it's part of a 3-part round and the line is sung in an high-pitched imitation of a child's voice sort of behind the other two parts, as though it is something in the back of the character's mind that they remember from childhood and has influenced them.

Even though she did a lot of other good acting, it is hard to separate the actress from that role, and you captured that connection very well.
