The Lyrics

Anyone who has had to stand on a long Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) line (or any long line for that matter--at the bank, social security office, passport office, or unemployment center) can relate to never-ending wait this parody describes. After standing for hours, petitioners could find out that they filled out the wrong forms, their documentation or ID was inadequate--or that they'd been waiting on the wrong line all along.
Stayin' in Line (at the DMV)

Well, you can tell by the way I shuffle my feet,
I'm a simple man who'd never cheat
The crowd is loud--the room's too warm,
Just ahead two sets of twins were born
But it's all right. It's OK.
You may give up and go away.
I'll sleep in place where I stand
A New York State form in my hand.

Whether you're a trucker or an SUV sucker,
you're stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Feel our wills breakin' and everybody's shakin',
But we're stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' in line.

I need new plates--my license renewed,
But if paperwork's wrong, they're gonna get rude.
I'm on Line Number One, but there're three Number Twos
One's my lucky number, so I just can't lose.
You know it's all right. It's OK.
I'll wait right here another day.
Sleep in place where I stand
A New York State form in my hand.

Whether you're a trucker or an SUV sucker,
you're stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Feel our wills breakin' and everybody's shakin',
But we're stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' in line.

Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah.
Line's goin' nowhere. somebody help me, yeah.
I'm stayin' in line.

Well, you can tell by the way I shuffle my feet,
I'm a simple man who'd never cheat
The crowd is loud--the room's too warm,
Just ahead two sets of twins were born
But it's all right. It's OK.
You may give up and go away.
I'll sleep in place where I stand
A New York State form in my hand.

Whether you're a trucker or an SUV sucker,
you're stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Feel our wills breakin' and everybody's shakin',
But we're stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' in line, stayin' in line.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' in line.

Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah.
Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me, yeah.
I'm stayin' in line.

Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah. [scat screaming]
Line's goin' nowhere. somebody help me, yeah.
I'm stayin' in line.

Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah. [scat screaming]
Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me, yeah.
I'm stayin' in line.

Line's goin' nowhere, somebody help me.
Somebody help me, yeah. [scat screaming]
Line's goin' nowhere. [fading] somebody help me, yeah.
I'm stayin' in line.

I tried to turn "TNT! I'm dynamite!" into "DMV! All day, all night!" but it didn't work. Hmmmm, let's see... listen to the disco-era Bee Gees, or stand in line at the DMV... Hmmmm... hmmmm... I'm thinking it over...

I'm still thinking it over... Vincent: That would be, "So tired, tired of waiting, tired of waiting in line..."

I really liked it. Heck, I was almost dancing. And I especially liked the line--Just ahead two sets of twins were born.

555 for you, DMV around here sucks to. By the way Michael, ( in my probably offending opinion) the only music worse than country is disco, with VERY few exceptions in the latter ( I do like a fair amount of country actually, but would never parody it as it pretty much parodies itself), I would rather wait in line for 6 hours at the DMV than listen to 1 hour of disco music. Hope that helps you some..
