The Lyrics

On February 2, 2011, the midwest was hit with the largest of its kind in three decades. Although official records state it was the third heaviest of its type in the area (20+ inches of snow, 3 inches short of the 1968 record), it still caused major problems throughout Chicago, as described below.
Well Chicago has a really famous road
It's the Lake Shore Drive, now you've been told
Easy way to leave downtown
Usually get out without a frown
But last week, the winter sway
Caught us at the end of day
Put us in a mighty grip
The L.S.D. was a bad trip

Driving through a blizzard, you need to be a wizard
When you're taking the Drive, taking the Drive
Cars and buses moving soon all lost the grooving
They got stuck on the Drive, stuck on the Drive
Ah ha, ah ha, stuck on the Drive, stuck on the Drive
Ah ha, ah ha, stuck on the Drive!

The temp 5 below with the wind chill high
Visibility? That was a lie
About 700 got the blues
The Drive got shut down, it made the news
They said "it's allright, you'll be OK
In your car you should just stay"
But that did not go as was planned
No f***ing way to hit Ashland!

Strangers became brothers and made frantic calls to mothers
They were stuck on the Drive, stuck on the Drive
It could not be planned on, those cars to be abandoned
That were stuck on the drive, stuck on the Drive
Ah ha, ah ha, stuck on the Drive, stuck on the Drive
Ah ha, ah ha, stuck on the Drive!

Cars going nowhere
"I'm cold and hungry
And getting angry, yeah"
Cars moving nowhere
"Will someone tow me, yeah?"
I'm stuck on the drive!

Well morning came with the cars unstuck
And the drivers said, "Now what the f***!"
The city moved them to the pound
To get them back, they had to search through town

But now it's all right, it's OK
They will get their cars back someday
Chicago way, you understand
Just don't steal my parking space, man!

Take back to your hovel rock salt and a shovel
And don't take the Drive, don't take the Drive
Inner city clinkin' just might dent up your Lincoln
When there's snow on the Drive, snow on the Drive
Ah ha, ah ha, snow on the Drive, snow on the Drive
Ah ha, ah ha, snow on the Drive!

Cars moving nowhere
The city towed me
It really snowed me, yeah

Cars moving nowhere
Do you blame Dailey?
You seen him lately? Nah!

Great well-executed theme song from "Wednesday Night Freezer"! I rate this B.G. - bery goot. ;D

Maybe three 5's will help ease you on down that Chicago road! ;-) Excellent Job!

Kansas City caught a lot of that same storm before in moved on to Chicago. And more is coming. I saw the pictures of Lake Shore Drive turned into a frozen parking lot. Blame it all on global warming.

Really fun, expertly done and, as expected, an interesting Rahm scheme!

I was going to do a parody about this too after seeing this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpxiCxO5k0g (Living in Chicago like you do it must be even worse!) It makes good parody fodder and I'm glad to hear you made it out alright.

I saw those pictures-- Unbelievable! As Patrick said, the same storm moved through OK, too. Unaccustomed as we are to more than a few inches at a time, it was enough to pretty much close us down for a few days. Warm 555s for this one! :)

(SOTM) Yeah, my area got hit by that storm too. It was rough for a few days. Good work o the parody.

(Artistry) my mistake :)

(Artistry) Makes me glad to be in Texas, where on those rare occasions when it does snow you just wait a day or two and it's all gone (of course, the flip side is 100 degree summers). Nice chronicle of the event.

This year has been brutal for parts of the country, the song didn't give you a whole lot to work with and LSD caught me off guard, but for the most part, very fun and relevant idea

(Artistry) Holy crap, a parody about something that happened in America that I ALREADY KNEW ABOUT? What is this world COMING to?! Admittedly I didn't know about the whole car thing, I just knew that there was a big-ass snowstorm or something in Chicago. That said, very amusing parody, well written, 555!

Artistry...I feel this. I feel it bad. We haven't gotten AS MUCH snow, in as short amount of time as that blizzard...but I know how this is. AND...we had a week last month where the temp never got above zero. 40 below zero. A girl shouldn't be driving to work in that! Sheesh. Tough winter survivors like you and me need to stick together, Agri! Not to mention that we both write phenomenal parodies. Or...you do. =)
