The Lyrics

I dunno...Billy Joel's in the CD player and I'm inspired...
The times are dark here in Rivendell
Humans and dwarves shuffle in
There's an tall man standing next to them
And he waits as the journey begins

He says, "Men, we must fight for our victory
And follow the Ring where it goes
We must bring them defeat, and our team is complete
When I wear a warriors clothes"

La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da dum

Chorus:
Not just an elf, he is Legolas
Quick as a lightning strike
Well, we all know that he's in the fellowship
And he'll never give up the fight

Now Sam of the Shire is a friend of mine
He cooks up our meals for free
And he's quick in his stride by his friend Frodo's side
But there's someplace that he'd rather be
He says, "Man, I believe this is killing me."
As the smile ran away from his face
"Well I'm sure that I will be a gardener
Once we all get out of this place"

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da dum

Now Pippin excels at bein' mischievous
He's never had fights with a knife
And he's talkin' with Merry, who's feet are real hairy
And probably will be for life

And then Gimli is tracking our body counts
As his enemies all drop like stones
Yes, he fights with a trait we call grumpiness
But it's better than fightin' alone

Chorus
Not just an elf, he is Legolas
Quick as a lightning strike
Well, we all know that he's in the fellowship
And he'll never give up the fight

It's a pretty good team here in Middle-Earth
And Elrond gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me that'll probably be
The one with the best fighting style
And then Strider, he fights like a champion
This Ranger's a man without fear
And they watch as he stands with a sword in his hand
And say, "Man, what a team we got here!"

Oh, la la la, de de da
La la, de de da da dum

Chorus:
Not just an elf, he is Legolas
Quick as a lightning strike
Well, we all know that he's in the fellowship
And he'll never give up the fight

WOW !!! This is the BEST "Piano Man" parody I have EVER seen - and NOT because I am a shameless LOTR geek - the sheer brilliance of internal rhyme and twisting of original lyrics is what I'm talking about, or Tolkien about..... 555 !
Adagio - December 20, 2003 - Report this comment
So easy to follow because of the internal rhyme, not to mention that I too like LOTR!! 555!

I really like this one, especially the line about Merry's feet!

"L" of a job, Syncronos! I did a Piano Man parody about my job "The Copier Guy" that got pretty good marks and spent some time in the top ten. I like this one better! This is pretty funny, and excellent use of the original lines!

I agree with Mari about Merry's "real hairy feet" - that's one of my favorite parts of this parody - and I also like the part about Gimli's fighting style, too!

I hope the little fangirls in the theater don't drown out the story...like the FoxTrot people said, Orlando Bloom has ruined LOTR for me...not because of his acting (it is superb!) but because he brings out the hormones in women :-P
Mari D - December 20, 2003 - Report this comment
Orlando brings out the hormones in the young ones (just ask my stepdaughter and her friends!) but the more "mature" women prefer Viggo!
Johnny D - December 20, 2003 - Report this comment
Yeah, my wife likes Viggo! As for me...well, it's a toss-up between Miranda and Liv...or maybe Cate...or...maybe...all three...ahhhh fantasy....
Rice Cube - December 20, 2003 - Report this comment
I thought Samwise's wife was pretty hot :-D

Darn good. And you know about Orlando... most guys agree, if he were a girl, he'd be a good-looking one :-P. But no, it's not the best Piano Man parody I've ever seen - I'd be lying if I said any song was better than one of Weird Al's. But close.

Fine job though I've never seen a LOTR movie yet. I'm going to rent the first two and immediately go to the theater to see part three. I hate waiting on cliffhangers.

Now Pippin excels at bein’ mischievous
He’s never had fights with a knife
And he's talkin' with Merry, who’s feet are real hairy
And probably will be for life

Most excellent lines. ;-) 5 rings for this one.

With stuff like this around, I'll never have to read the books or see the movies. But now I have to follow this same path, despite already having already posted three "Piano Man" parodies here. You have been warned, my preciouses! (Precii?)

Indeed, great take on this OS, and great reworking of the internal rhymes. Glad you went on this LOTR streak a decade ago :c)
