Song Parodies -> "Pair O' Ds"

Original Song Title:

"Honesty"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Billy Joel

Parody Song Title:

"Pair O' Ds"

Parody Written by:

Jan Unwin

The Lyrics

I must get this off my chest
Let my thoughts unbind
Sometimes you have to laugh so you can live
Sometimes you must stretch truthfulness
Just to make things rhyme
I've padded things until they are massive

Chorus

Pair O' Ds are often punny words
Keep us abreast of what is new
If they're first rate, they lift and separate
us from those who keep the lyrics true

I can always find a boob or two
Who say they emphasize
Meet me lace to lace and you'll believe
My humor may fall flat because
the hook is in my eye
All I want is someone who will see

Chorus

I can find a lover
I can find a friend
I can have support
Until the bitter end
I carry emergency
little safety pins
I know, I know

If you cotton to my song
Please take time to vote
I know I'm not the best writer alive
If I made it under the wire
Please write me a short note
You know I'd really like to get some FIVES

Chorus

Clever pun-work with Parodies/Pair O' D's/"I can always find a boob or two"(D cup???) .... very clever.... 5's

You had me smiling until you got to the soliciting at the end. Should heve kept on with the original idea and let the scoring take care of itself. Everytime I hear on the radio "Who-u-ooh, Listen to the music..", I say "I won't" and change the station. You're good enough to not have to beg.

What's wrong with a little shameless self-promotion, Rick? I have no problem with Jan soliciting. Especially if "they're real and they're spectacular." (No problem with that kind of soliciting either.) Besides, if I may be so shameless myself, I did "Vicodin" to this song.

Clever wordplay, great job!

I have no problem with self promotion. I do it myself, in the comments section, where it belongs. If someone writes a funny song with boob puns, I'll give it fives without the ads, the work speaks for itself.

Thanks for the comments. I cross my heart that I'll give them some consideration. Mostly I was trying to work in "cotton" and "underwire".

Jan: I totally got the "underwire" pun. It was one of several good ones. I have to admit it was a pretty titilating parody. I really liked the way it bounced along. I actually saw a couple of good points in it. But I think Rick feels you may have tried to milk it a bit too much. . .
