The Lyrics

About Billy Joel's accident....
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time

If I decide to go drive tonight
I would end up not doing things right
But I still want to,
Never got a chauffeur to
Drive me places, so I drive, think that's fine

Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time

Once I thought that I could drive real good
It took a while 'til I understood
I'm a bad driver,
And there's no way around it, for
I've driven badly for the longest time

Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time

I'm the car that plowed into your home
Also wrecked your bushes, made you groan
You didn't need this,
getting pizza was my wish
I've driven badly for the longest time

Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time

Maybe I'll get driving lessons
Could get a chauffeur
I might buy a Benz
I won't again drive this junk car
I just can't go far
Without having a car crash

Who knows how much further I'll drive on
I know if I do, my mind is gone
I'll take my chances
I'll remember my past crashes
I've driven badly for the longest time

Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time

I had second thoughts at the start
I said to myself
Do not drive the car
Cracked the foundation, left sand skid marks
Cut my hand, wrecked the car
That's just not what I hoped for

I don't care what consequence it brings
I will try my best, conquer driving
Had three other wrecks
I'll drive better the time next
I've driven badly for the longest time

Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time
Oh, Oh, Oh
For the longest time

A fitting ode to the worst driver in rock history.

I will always think you're talented... but you're reckless with your pacing! I would NEVER let Alexa write with you!

Phil: This song was cold, you won't get sold, you'll get put in the back of the discount rack like another can of beans. Jay: The worst driver in rock history was Harry Chapin (also an NYC boy turned Long Islander -- a pattern, maybe?). The accident in which he died was not his first, only his last. And let's not forget Vince Neil.

Speaking as an info cop, I must tell you that "For" is not part of the OS title, and this OS is from the 80s. Speaking as myself, I think there were a few pacing issues but it's got good content overall. 455.
