The Lyrics

I've got more BJ parodies than most of you have parodies. Of course, to some of you, "BJ" does not stand for what you're hoping it does.
(long instrumental opening)

From a place known as Levittown, Long Island
rode a boy with piano music in his hands.
And his great music career
has 'em grinning ear to ear
east and west of the Rio Grande.

Well, he started with some bands at Hicksville High School.
At an L.A. lounge he got some good bankroll.
And his 'tude and his chops made the people give him props.
Soon the word spread of Billy Joel.

Well, his songs were often heavy
and you shouldn't listen alone
but he soon put all those disco boys to shame.
And he couldn't hold his money
and he had trouble at home
but producers and the sidemen knew his name.

Well, he rocked his way from Hollywood to Moscow
and the critics could not seem to keep him down
for when it's time to rock, the fans line 'round the block
when Billy Joel comes to town.

(instrumental break)

Well, one cold day, Cleveland called up Billy.
And they said, "You're going on our honor roll!"
And the rockers and their kin like the sea came pouring in
to watch the induction of Billy Joel.

Well, his songs are often heavy
and you shouldn't listen alone
but he still puts all those critic bums to shame.
And he's now rich and remarried
and he's finally found a home
on the walls of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

From a place known as Madison Square Garden
comes a sound that's still very in demand.
And his great music career has us grinning from ear to ear
and so we rise to give him a hand!

(long instrumental close)

What's all the hatin' about? Here is a true paean to one of the rock'n'roll greats of the last 30 years. And Michael, since you're such a Billy Joel fan, could you check out my Nintendo-themed parody of "I Don't Want To Be Alone Anymore?" Thanks!

A few minor pacing glitches, but overall this rocks, much like the legend to whom it pays homage. Great stuff. 5-5-5.

By the way, I highly recommend 'Movin' Out' on Broadway if you haven't already seen it.
