The Lyrics

This is my first parody, and I surprised myself how easily I could do it. It was going to be called Moving Van, but I got off topic with the forced rhyme, which was probably my worst instance of "force rhyme!" It rhymes enough, though. Please leave comments (complaints).
Well it's five o'clock on a business day
And I wait for the traffic to cross
There's a car on the shoulder right next to me
With a map, she appears to be lost

I yelled, "Missy, this street's a dead end you know
And I'm not really sure why it ends
But it doesn't go far, so get out of your car
And hop in with me in my van"

La da ditty da
La da ditty da
Dum

Come for a ride in my minivan
Travel along tonight
I'm not really sure where I'm taking you
But trust me, you'll make it alright

Now this gal rides along in my minivan
She keeps me awake at the wheel
And she lights up a smoke, which compels me to choke
So I said, "Let me make you a deal"

I said, "Girl, I believe this is killing me
And it's probably killing us both
If you'll put out your smoke, I can buy you a Coke"
And she grunted and said to me "No"

La da ditty da
La da ditty da
Dum

I stopped to get gas at a Sunoco
But I didn't have time for a wash
And then we head off on the interstate
And I jump when she yells "OH MY GOSH!"

Cause a Corsica pulls out in front of me
As a semi truck grazes my side
And a taxi cab flies like a bird in the skies
And somehow we get out alive

(piano break)

Come for a ride in my minivan
Travel along tonight
I'm not really sure where I'm taking you
But trust me, you'll make it alright

Well I dropped her off in New Mexico
At a paleontologist dig
It was quite a ways off yet from Canada
But she said, "Let me out of this rig"

Well I wanted to hit it off well with her
It would make a far better song
But it's likely by now that you're raising a brow
And saying my lyrics are wrong

La da ditty da
La da ditty da
Dum

Come for a ride in my minivan
Travel along tonight
I'm not really sure where I'm taking you
But trust me, you'll make it alright

Well, Mr schnautz....for a first parody, this was a pretty fine effort. I loved the surreal, not-quite-right way the story unfolded, and you've paced it well. Good job! 555

This was good. I think it should be called Taxi man or Vagabond or something. I think the story line was good but you didn't include any "real" gags. Sure people don't like smokers but do something with butts and butt heads, that sort of things. The story should have more than just crazy stuff happpening to them. Develope the subtleties of humor more is what I'm saying. I give this a five though. I enjoyed the story. Something which is key to good parodies.

Dropped my sword, but I raised my glass and raised my lighter towards the end (I don't smoke. I use it for... um, arson. Yeah, that's it.) Seriously, this was a great parody to sing along to. Those are the parodies I like best. I think the pacing swung well.
