"It's Always A Planet"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Song about Pluto's demotion.
It can be cold as an ice
It can wound with frostbites
It can ruin astronomy with casual lies
And it can't reveal what you wanted you to see
It hides in the dark
But it's always a planet to me

It can lull you to sleep
It can take you and moon you
It can't ask for anything
But it'll always believe in you
And it'll give what you took from it as long it's neat
It's small as a moon
But it's always a planet to me

Oh, it takes care of itself
It can't wait forever
It's behind of our time
Oh, and it never gives up
And it always goes down
It can't change it's mind

It can't promise anything
Like the Garden of Eden
Then it'll carelessly freeze you
And jeers while you're dyin'
Then it'll bring out it's worst
And the worse you can't be
Just f**k all the experts
But it's always a planet to me

It is frequently cold
And it's suddenly cruel
It can't do as it pleases
It's nobody's moon
But it can be demoted
It's thousand below zero
And the least it can do
Is hiding from the sun
But it's always a planet to me
Always a planet to me.

Pluto was demoted because a planet isn't supposed to circle Disneyland. Seriously though, I think this was adorable praise for Pluto.
Arwen - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
Oh...one of those things I wish I had thought to do first. I seriously find myself in a bit of a depressive state when I think about poor little Pluto...=(
Meriadoc - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
Pacing a teeny bit off, but the idea was fantastic and made for a very funny overall effort.
Peregrin - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
We need more planet parodies :)

If it orbits the sun, it's a planet. Remember that "planet" is a word for wanderer.

Anything that depresses Arwen is a wrong that must be avenged! I guess this means I've got to come up with my own Pluto parody.
The Charnstar - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
I love it, although the pacing is a tad bit iffy, great stuff, and personally, I would've written it about Uranus, cause everyone teases it... What did it ever do to us?... yet?.. Anyway, great stuff, 4-5-5

Whoa, I just read about that Pluto demotion, NOW I understand why you wrote this parody about Pluto LOL! Sorry
TJC - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
And Disney still insists Goofy is not a dog! Perhaps, like Pluto, he's a planetoid
Travis - August 25, 2006 - Report this comment
I feel sorry for pluto

I'm not going to make a Disney joke. I am going to say that I really enjoyed this parody. Until Pluto got demoted, I didn't know they could actually do such a thing. However, pacing was a teensy bit off, so 4, 5, 5.

Good reaction back then to Pluto demotion.

ABC: Excellent Job! Pluto is still a planet to me as well.

(ABC) Wow, this got a lot of play back in the day, I see. Wish I had 30+votes on anything...but it is deserved. This is one of the best I've read of yours.

Pluto actually got demoted by Disney corporate - it was all because Minnie Mouse was frickin' Goofy and Disney didn't know Uranus from a whole of a planet. Nice idea, Max - this works for me.
Stuart McArthur - June 24, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) Yes, R.I.P. Pluto - wait, I wrote a parody with that title - but I think this predates mine, Max, so I probably shouldn't be pointing it out - this is one of my favourites from you - 555
Leo Keough - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC) Great concept that suited the OS perfectly!!!...555!!!
bobpiecheese - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
(ABC5I) There were a few lines that didn't really fit - mostly the lines that were cribbed wholesale from the OS - and it was kinda abstract. Although this wasn't as good as Stu's RIP Pluto, this was okay.
Red Ant - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Good parody, Max. I liked the "Just f**k all the experts" line the best. A few missed rhymes here and there drug this down a notch, but it's still a parody. =)
Below Average Dave - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
Um, I think this was about Pluto Max, but some of the lines seemed kinda random to me. . .nice idea though and well written.
Matthias - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
One of your better parodies Max, I think you can put out some good work if you spent a little bit more time on it and stayed away from too fan specific sports topics.
Jeff Reuben - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
I agree, I really liked this one. Great idea.
Invisible Boy - June 25, 2009 - Report this comment
I liked it a lot, Max. It's fun to see you take on a unique topic and a point of view I think we all agree with.
Planetary Pirate - November 14, 2010 - Report this comment
The "demotion" was made by a SMALL group within the scientific community. The condition of "clearing the orbiting neighborhood" is complete Orwellian bulls*** so f**k the self-appointed experts. Pluto is a PLANET and your Billy Joel parody gets 555s hands down.
Max Power - November 14, 2010 - Report this comment
Thanks and I agree with you, Pluto will always be a planet no matter what!
