The original version of this song came out around the time of the 1977 World Series, when BJ's Yankees (and mine) ended a 15-year title drought.

By the way, on October 2, 1978, when the Yankees won the Playoff game in Boston on Bucky Dent's home run, you know where Billy Joel was? In Boston, to give a concert at the Boston Garden that night. I'm not making that up.

beautifully done....but being a dodger fan, i ahve to ask....what's a 'home run' ?
I still remember Reggie hitting homers on 3 consecutive pitches against Hough ( I think) .If A-Fraud hit like Jackson did in the playoffs, he'd OWN New York.
Alvin: Being a Dodger fan, you must remember what Reggie did. If not, how about Kirk Gibson? Dee: The first was off Burt Hooton, the second Elias Sosa, the last Hough, and who else ever drove a knuckleball 475 feet to dead center field?

don't like to think about it much....the gibson HR is still my fondest memory of my fanhood.
my sister was at that game....and in her seat, not heading out of the parking lot...dodgers figure to figure about 29th in baseball this year...thank god for the nationals, still, we're tied for first
