The Lyrics

http://www.22ndstreet.com/
They say it takes nothing to go fishing alone
In every net, there's fish in every beats
But if we lift the package onto Karl Malone,
Well, we could generate a lot of eats*
On 22nd Street
Oh oh, on 22nd Street

We're gonna see if you can take the heat
Before you'll know the second net's a pain
We're gonna end the whole thing now and then
On 22nd Street

Oh yeah!

(Instrumental Interlude)

On 22nd Street
(repeat and fade out)

(ABC4) As usual, Max, I can't understand what your parody is about without an explanation. I guess this would make a cool advertising jingle for the establishment you referenced above.

Not about football or sports people... But once again, I have no idea what you're talking about either. Sorry Max, I did like your 404 parody for SOTM though, becuase I could understand it.

It hardly had anything to do with sports you know, Karl Malone the basketball player was mention only because his name rhymes with "alone" which is also a jab as well, overall you should've at least look past that and think of him as an average joe working at 22nd street. The link's there for a reason as well since the parody is mainly a reference to what they did over there.

(ABC4#)

Is 22ND street a short street? This song seems awfully short for a Billy Joel song. Anyway - it makes good sense after visiting the link you provided. Short, but sweet.

(ABC) hmm, it's like this is code that the Allies may have been able to decipher with one of James Bond's Lectra Decoding Machines from "From Russia With Love" Max - but alas I have no Lectra, and remain mystified - a little too short to podium in a comp too, for mine

Well, if you could get Carl Malone to do an ad for that restaurant/fishing store, you'd have a nice jingle here, Max.

I like minimalism. In fact...I would love to write the perfect parody and use only one word. I just haven't thought of the "word".
Please help me understand you...As a body of work...I DO enjoy your writing...

I was just starting to like it but then it was over. Kind of like my sex life.

I never saw the recreational value in fishing. Then someone introduced me to beer. Interesting but brief take on life on 22nd street.

(Artistry) There's short but sweet, and then there's just plain old short. This is the latter. Nothing was said but "we fish on 22nd Street", nothing about it was comedic in nature, I'm glad to read a parody by you that isn't rooted in sports culture but this left me with nothing.
Jeff Reuben - July 19, 2012 - Report this comment
Short, and I know who Karl Malone is.

Uh, interesting take Rex. . .I don't know, nothing to really through this one into the funny category, but it wasn't bad. Pacing was near perfect. . .just nothing to really get a laugh at. . .just kinda changed the song a bit. . .contrasting yes--but not enough, too limited a song, imho, to make a great parody from.

I think you did good considering the uneven-ness of the original. Well done there.
