The Lyrics

Who is Philip Glass? He is a successful contemporary composer who has written operas, chamber and orchestral music, and film scores (http://www.philipglass.com/)... and I can't stand his music! Many years ago I tried to listen to his stuff to see what the fuss was all about. I was, shall we say, under the influence, and still didn't like it. Elmer Bernstein (http://www.elmerbernstein.com/), on the other hand, is a composer that I admire.
Once I heard music that gave me gas
It was written by Philip Glass
Credits include some big movie scores
But it's B.S. - His music bores

Once I heard film music that was divine
It was written by Elmer Bernstein
Glass writes arpeggios all of the time
Mind-numbing crap, musical crime

Lots of folks say they find it pleasant
But I must make jokes 'cause his stuff is cheesy
I could write like that - it would be so easy to
Just copy that incessant droning spew

I'll express that all the repetition
Is a cause of stress
When a sane musician has to play in that mess
A very dang'rous mission, yeah

"Koyaanisqatsi," "Einstein on the Beach"

Next time I can, I will take a pass
On hearing music by Philip Glass
And maybe I am being unkind
But Mr. Glass, Kiss my behind!

Mari D - I couldn't remember exactly how the original 'Blondie' song went in some places, pace-wise, but I liked what you did with this one. 5's.

Mari, Mari, Mari, ya had me from the very first line "Once I heard music that gave me gas" !!! This parody reminds me of a comment I read somewhere (not on Amiright) where somebody compared some other composer's music to that of Philip Glass by saying something like "...it's like the music of Philip Glass, except it doesn't make you insane." Wonderful job here, MAD.

I thought your song was funny. But I am a Phillip Glass fan based soley on his music and not on his repetitiveness. I don't think Samsung would agree with you.

Knock knock! Who's there? Knock knock! Who's there? Knock knock! Who's there? Knock knock! Who's there? Knock knock! Who's there? Knock knock! Who's there? Philip Glass! Hehe - An amusing parody although I rather like Philip Glass. Still, it's all taste I guess... Nice pacing :D

Count me in the Glass Hate Camp. His music ruined "Koyannisqatsi" for me. 555 (Glass haters should check out the PDQ Bach/Peter Schickele parody "Prelude to Einstein on the Fritz"! :D)

Great Parody about film score composers! I agree Philip Glass hasn't composed anything worth recognition. Even the score to ``Secret Window'' does not compare to the excellence of genius composers like Danny Elfman , John Williams , or Bernard Hermann.

OK, to solve the dispute of when the OS was released, I'n going to Wikipedia this... Alright, whoever thought the OS was released in the 70's, they are correct. "Heart of Glass" was released in 1978.

Glass is a fraud. He can't write real music, hence the repetition. I listened to Koyanaatski, and there was one section where the same two chords were played over and over with the same aperggiated melody, for 10-20 minutes. This is insanity, Glass should be forced to give all his money to me, a much more promising, talented man.
